San Diego Comic-Con was this past weekend, and on Friday, Tiny Toons was a topic. I wish I could have been there. I was there for the first Tiny Toons (Tiny Toon Adventures 1990-1995) and fell in love with Buster and Babs Bunny (no relation). I mean, there was Hamton, Plucky, and Elmyra too, but I loved Babs. The teachers were the OG Looney Toons, Bugs, Porky, Foghorn Leghorn, and the rest. Loved it. Thankfully, even though I wasn’t there, I still got to see the trailer and the theme song of Tiny Toons Looniversity, the new Tiny Toons show. Don’t worry, I will share.
I am happy to know that a new generation will get to experience the zaniness that is the Tiny Toons. Some of the voice actors that did the original show are reprising their roles. Jeff Bergman (Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, and Foghorn Leghorn), Bob Bergen (Porky Pig), Candi Milo (Dean Granny and Witch Hazel), and Cree Summer (Elmyra), which tickles me pink. There is new blood too. Ashleigh Hairston (Babs), Eric Bauza (Buster), David Errigo Jr. (Hamton and Plucky), and Tessa Netting (Sweetie) are all new but very welcome, and I am excited to see how they do.
Watching the theme song, I think I liked it. I could hear the original, and I kept trying to sing it, but because there were new words in spots, I kept tripping up. I can say, though, I was happy to hear the old theme song in this one. Using my eyes like I should when watching something, I was pleasantly surprised to see them look pretty close to the same as when I first watched them. The opening certainly wasn’t the same, but it was funny to watch.
All in all, I was thrilled to see Tiny Toons Looniversity at SDCC this year. You can find it on Max this fall. Are you one of us who watched the first one or one of those that this is the first time watching this? What are your thoughts on either side? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time, have fun storming the castle!
