The Persona 3 ReLoad and Persona 5 Tactica trailers were accidentally leaked last Thursday. A few hours after the end of the Summer Game Fest, the trailers for both games came up on Instagram and soon circulated throughout Twitter.
The existence of these games does not surprise fans of the franchise. Domains for unknown projects relating to the two games were registered, and fans have been waiting to see what these projects entailed. However, we were ALL surprised when the trailers were accidentally posted last Thursday. As both trailers promote their release on XBOX, we believe that these trailers were for the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 11th.
Persona 3 ReLoad
The Persona 3 remake wasn’t a total surprise as ATLUS updated the character models in 2018 for Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight. Since then, fans awaited with bated breath for a remastering of the 2006 game.
The trailer features a new song from Lotus Juice. It is unknown if Yumi Kawamura, the main singer for this title, will return for the project. Considering she performed at the 2022 Super Live, it is very likely she will be back.
The trailer shows how much video games have evolved in the past 17 years. The updated character portraits and UI are stunning compared to the ones from 2006. When comparing the character profiles, you can note the artistic growth of character designer, Shigenori Soejima.
It is unknown if this new version will include the female protagonist. Some believe it to be unlikely, but I have hope for her return as she was a part of the cast in Persona Q2. There is also no news if the epilogue story, The Answer, will be a part of this game.
Persona 3 Reload will release in early 2024.
Persona 5 Tactica
Persona 5 Tactica is the third spin-off from the Persona 5 mainline game. This game uses an updated art style from the Persona Q games to differentiate itself from the other games. However, in true Persona 5 fashion, the Phantom Thieves end up inside palaces and must defeat the rulers to free the people from tyranny.
The game appears to play similarly to Fire Emblem as a tactical turn-based game. There appears to be less hype about this game as it’s becoming glaringly obvious ATLUS is milking this particular title. Especially after the March announcement of Persona 5: The Phantom X, a mobile game with an entirely new cast and gacha elements.
Persona 5 Tactica will release in November 2023.
Both games will be released on all major gaming platforms, including PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and of course, Xbox. As a side note: thank you, ATLUS employee, and I hope you still have a job.
