The thing about modern games is that they lack the story element mostly. They are shiny and new, but when it comes to keeping the attention of a player, they fall short. If you’re one of those players that are looking for a good story, then you’re in for a treat because the following titles come with a damn fine story:
KOTOR
The Star Wars universe of the Old Republic is the setting for KOTOR. You’ll get to create a character and go from planet to planet, completing missions. Or you can go to a cantina and enjoy a round of Pazaak with the many people there.
In Pazaak, you’ll need to beat your opponent with a hand with a value of 20 or around 20. This is similar to blackjack because this casino game was the inspiration behind it. Blackjack and other casino games are mostly online nowadays. The main thing about them is to enjoy them responsibly.
The thing about your character in KOTOR is that you don’t know your backstory. As you’re going from planet to planet, you’ll get bits of your personality back, and then you’ll get the full picture. Darth Malak, the antagonist, will clue you in, and you’ll decide if you want to go down that road or not.
Assassin’s Creed the Ezio Trilogy
There are only a few trilogies like this one in the world of gaming. The story begins in Assassin’s Creed II, and you’ll get to meet Ezio Auditore, a young man looking to live the best life. But his plans come tumbling down when his father and brothers are set up for treason and executed. Ezio avenges them and escapes, only to be brought into the world of Assassins and Templars on the side of the Assassins.
He learns of the two orders and the mysterious Apple of Eden that happens to fall into the wrong hands, only for Ezio to recover it and defeat Rodrigo Borgia. In Brotherhood, you’ll get to deal with Cesare, his son, and take down the Templars in Italy. Finally, in Revelations, you’ll play as an older Ezio looking to unlock the secrets of Masyaf, only to find out that he’s a pawn in the grand scheme of things.
Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt
This is a pretty recent game, and it’s the conclusion of a trilogy of games on The Witcher. But you don’t need to play the previous two ones to get the hang of the third one. In this game, you play as Geralt again, and you look for your daughter Ciri, and so does the Wild Hunt. All the time, you’re one or two steps away from her as unfortunate complications happen along the way. These complications take the shape of witches, ghouls, and all sorts of magical creatures and quests. You’ll have to play this game to find out what makes it so good and why the story will have you hooked.
The Resident Evil Franchise
Resident Evil, also known as Biohazard in Japan, is a survival horror video game franchise created and developed by the Japanese company Capcom. The franchise was first introduced in 1996 with the release of the original Resident Evil game for the PlayStation console. Since then, it has become one of the most popular and successful video game franchises of all time, with multiple sequels, prequels, spin-off games, novels, comic books, and movies. The series is set in a fictional world overrun by zombies and other monstrous creatures and follows a group of characters as they attempt to survive and uncover the truth behind the outbreak.
Throughout the franchise, players are placed in the shoes of various characters, each with their own unique skills and abilities, as they navigate through a variety of dangerous and suspenseful environments. The games are known for their intense action, complex puzzles, and horrifying atmosphere, as well as their iconic characters, such as Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine.
In addition to traditional survival horror elements, the Resident Evil franchise has also evolved to incorporate elements of action and shooter gameplay, leading to a more fast-paced and action-oriented experience, like in Village, the most recent title in the franchise. Good stories are easy to come by in this franchise if you don’t mind the horror part.
