Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butthead Series Premiere Review
Everyone, the original reactors have returned. Beavis and Butthead are back and funnier than ever!
Debuting on MTV in the 90s, these two teens became famous for doing two things: being hilariously dumb and reacting to music videos. They were basically doing reaction videos before YouTube even existed. Now, fresh on the heels of their recent movie, Beavis and Butthead return with a new show. Again. But how well does it hold up in the modern day? The answer: like they were made for the 2020s.
Beavis and Butthead, Never Change
Whether they’re trying to score or seeking to do whatever they think is cool, Beavis and Butthead remain as dumb as ever, and I couldn’t but laugh at their antics. From mistaking a restroom as an escape room (and using the actual escape room as a restroom) to trying to be beekeepers using a wasp’s nest (I hate wasps!), the boys are in top form. Or, rather, low form, given that it’s them. The point is, though, that they’re just as hilarious as they were in the 90s, and it’s clear that Mike Judge is giving his all playing them.
The best part, though, is the reaction videos interspersed throughout each segment. Beavis and Butthead reacted to things long before it was cool, and the show has not lost its touch. If anything, having them react to TikTok’s and YouTube videos makes them more relevant than ever. In one particular moment that reveals Beavis is a fan of K-Pop band BTS, Butthead walks off in disgust. When he comes back, Beavis is dancing on the couch to the music!
I couldn’t stop laughing at this. It was so hilarious!
If these first two episodes were any indication, then this new Beavis and Butthead series is going to have some staying power, which is good because the world needs them now more than ever.
The best part? You can watch the first episode on YouTube right now!
