Fear the Walking Dead, and we sure have ourselves a problem now. I’m curious what the end game is because all of these story setups have been pretty lackluster. Of the episodes in this half, this is the best so far, but that is just because of how strong of a character Daniel is, even with him, not himself, but it’s still not enough. So with that, this is another light recap as the episode was just full of empty time filler.
Luciana is working with Daniel to get his memory back, and today they are playing a game of card match. Daniel has a boat as the first card he has turned over, and he is prepared to overturn another card, and Luciana wants to see if he is sure. He is, and it is another boat. For some reason, this triggers Daniel, who thinks that Ofelia is alive on this boat. A couple of people are gearing up to meet Dwight to get some weapons, Luciana is preparing to go too, but during this distraction, Daniel leaves the sub. So Daniel is out looking for a boat, looking for Ofelia. Luciana and Wes catch up to him near a playground, but they are all captured by Arno and his thugs.
They are set up at a makeshift board yard, with scaffold and plans to connect them all, and one boat looks like the card, causing Daniel to think they have Ofelia captured. Arno wants to know where the others are at going for the weapons. Arno separates Wes from the others and puts him in a cage, and is going to lower him towards walkers to get him to spill, but Wes refuses to do it. Daniel is pretty sure he can get them out of the situation, and Daniel wants to talk to Arno and says he will talk. Unfortunately, he gives Arno the wrong coordinates, and Arno sends half of his crew to go to this location. Daniel tells Luciana this gives them around a 24-hour window to go there, find nothing and come back.
Daniel says he knows how to get out of there, so they create a diversion to get a guard to let them out and check the boat, which doesn’t have Ofelia and no signs of her, obviously, as we know she passed in Mexico seasons back. Daniel strands Wes and Luciana on the boat as he moves planks from the pathway so they can’t get to him. He ends up getting Arno in the cage and lowers him down to the walkers, where they eat up his legs. Luciana and Wes get out and catch up to them. Arno is upset because he promised everyone they would be safe. He tells them that someone is letting out the radiation walkers, and they can’t be close to them. Wes ends Arno.
Luciana concludes they should ask if all the people want to join up with them. When they vote, they decide to join up, which immediately increases their ranks to try to take out Strand. Luciana also knows that Daniel has a clear mind when he is thinking about saving Ofelia, so she makes the decision to lie to Daniel. She tells him that she is alive and is in Strand’s tower, and they need these people and need him to think about how to get in because nobody else can think like Strand quite as Daniel does. Wes doesn’t like the deception, so he decides to leave and go join up with Strand.
