Awards season was back in full force again after The Golden Globes weren’t aired on television. The stars returned to the red carpet and I was highly disappointed with the looks. The SAG Awards are more relaxed, so I guess everyone is waiting to pull out all the stops at The Oscars. But here are the stars that I thought stunned.
Hoyeon Jung
Hoyeon Jung wore Louis Vuitton. I love this look on her. The dress doesn’t look heavy on her and the beading is pretty cascading down the dress. I also like that the rest of the look is simple, except that Louis Vuitton cut her a piece of the same material to add as a hair tie. Very cute.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo wore Louis Vuitton. Her dress was inspired by Aretha Franklin, who she portrayed in Genius: Aretha, for which she was nominated. She said that Aretha was always wearing daring outfits, so she wanted to do the same. I think Cynthia has a unique style and she can pull off outfits that many other actresses couldn’t. The red leather dress is minimal but is a contrast to her softer shawl.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudges wore Atelier Versace. She looked like a gorgeous mermaid and that dress hugged her in all the right places. You never see seafoam green on the red carpet, and I love this color on her. And I liked the splash of gold for her heels and accessories.
Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld wore Miu Miu. Miu Miu’s clothing is always young and fresh and it was a perfect fit for Hailee. They took the black dress and made it fun with the bra cut out. There was also a lot of drama with the chunky black beading. Hailee’s hair was also sleek like her dress, and slightly architectural with the specific placement of the two strands of hair in front.
Emilia Jones
Emilia Jones wore Givenchy. This is such an interesting-looking dress with it being asymmetrical. I don’t think the sheerness of the dress is too much because it has enough modesty underneath. And the sheer fabric is gorgeous with the floral rhinestones. It made a statement.
Daveed Diggs
Daveed wore Versace. It’s a whole lotta suit with the Italian filigree detailing, but Daveed pulls it off flawlessly. I think it works because it’s monochromatic and his silver loafers also give it a little pop. I also like that he pulled his hair back to make the look cleaner.
Lin-Manuel Miranda
It’s unknown who Lin-Manuel Miranda is wearing, but I thought he looked great. His look was casual with him wearing a black shirt instead of the usual button-down shirt, but he makes the look with the suit jacket. It’s a nice gray/silver color with a slight sheen.
