Solving puzzles and gaming helps reinforce existing connections between our brain cells which means that it helps strengthen the mind, essentially. It also increases the generation of new relationships so you can improve your mind. So essentially, you are going to actually improve your mental speed and thought processes. Jigsaw puzzles are especially good for improving short-term memory and can also be incredibly good for logic because it is a type of problem-solving that you need to look into when you’re trying to solve them!

How can it improve my learning?

Playing games stimulates the areas of the brain that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes for all ages, so it means that at any age you can start enjoying playing games. We all have a preference for the types of games that we like. For example, we may enjoy word games and puzzles, and that is why games such as scrabble word finder and things such as this, including word searches can be great for those who like to learn through words and language. You could look at the game word finder for example.

If you prefer to learn through images, then you may enjoy games and puzzles such as card games and picture card games that will allow you to connect images and learn through that, which is just as beneficial, and doesn’t have to take much skill but will improve cognitive function over time. Or maybe you like traditional games, for nostalgic reasons, as well as the benefits that games such as Monopoly and Cluedo bring. They may sound old fashioned but these kinds of games take logic, adding up money, weighing up the logistics and the probability behind things as well as improving maths skills, so there is no game or puzzle that doesn’t require some type of brainpower. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

If you’re still not 100% convinced, then you can look further into some more facts as to what makes games such a positive for your mind:
