No new Simpsons this week but we did get a look at an upcoming episode.
TV Line is reporting that the show will spoof The Avengers on February 23, 2020 in an episode called, “Bart The Bad Guy”. Bart manages — by way of a massive misunderstanding — to see an advance cut of the unreleased sequel of the extremely popular Vindicator superhero movie franchise. And he quickly discovers that he can leverage his recently procured spoiler knowledge as blackmail material. But when the studio execs behind the film (played by the Russo brothers) learn of Bart’s scheme, they vow to stop at nothing to silence him.

Marvel President and CCO Kevin Feige will also make a cameo appearance as the villain of the Vindicator movie Chin-nos.
It was only a matter of time before this happened. Now that The Simpsons are part of Disney you can probably expect to see more Disney spoofs. I for one am here for it; especially if they do something clever or over the top and not just a straight Simpson version of the material.

From the way it sounds Bart The Bad Guy could also end up being insightful. Bart leveraging his knowledge speaks to today’s spoiler culture. Being a fan now means having to be caught up almost instantly and having to navigate potential spoilers in the media and social networks we consume.
Either way, anytime Bart gets to play the bad guy is usually a recipe for a good episode and allows the writers to take more risks (which I hope they do).
