Spoilers will be talked about below, so please be sure to watch the latest episode before reading on! This review is based off of the dub version of Super that currently airs on Toonami.
So remember how I asked a bunch of questions at the end of my Episode 115 review? Well, turns out we got a few of those said questions answered in Episode 116 as the battle between Goku and Kelfa raged on! Who exactly prevailed between the two powerhouses and what other startling revelations occurred? Well, lets get right into our review shall we?
A majority of the episode was spent dealing with the climatic clash between Goku and Kelfa, as Goku once again tapped into his Ultra Instinct form. Here Goku was far too fast for Kelfa, but do to not having complete mastery of the form most of his physical attacks did barely anything to her. Instead Goku’s advantage was the fact that he could dodge every single one of her powerful attacks, which included strong strikes and earth shattering ki beams. However, due to Goku’s insane new power up it only added more fuel for Kelfa to push past her limits as well as she tried to ascend to new heights as well. It got so much so that it even finally woke up Jiren from his deep meditation.
Eventually though, Goku started to use his brains against Kelfa when he realized that if he tried to exert any more physically like throwing a punch or a kick, that he will lose his Ultra Instict form. So he then began charging up a Kamehameha as Kelfa began lashing out all of her power across the arena. Kelfa saw Goku moving around and launched a gigantic beam straight at him, but in one of the coolest moments so far, Goku merged his Ultra Instinct and Kamehameha together to literally slide up the gigantic beam and launch a point blank Super Kamehameha into Kelfa’s face! This eliminated Kelfa from the tournament completely and even shattered her Portera Earrings in the process, reverting her back to Kale and Caulifa in the stands.
Elsewhere throughout the episode, we spent some brief moments with the likes of Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza and the Androids out in the arena. Vegeta was still engage with his fight against Top, and was constantly getting distracted from the level that Goku has attained. Vegeta even gets a flash back to how Whis actually explained that he will never get this new form since he over thinks his moves too much unlike Goku who naturally moves while fighting. Piccolo and Gohan stood in awe over how powerful Goku and Kelfa got. While the Androids just tried to survive and avoid getting eliminated from all of the strong gust of wind/energy that Goku and Kelfa extorted. Frieza himself, simply stood his ground and watched Goku fight Kelfa, enjoying the fact that two Saiyans are literally attacking each other.
In the stands though, we got some of the usual commentary from Whis and the others. It is here that Whis explained that the only way that Goku attained Ultra Instinct this time is due to the immense power that Kelfa is radiating, its similar in strength and power to the Spirit Bomb that hit Goku that initially triggered the transformation in the first place. Other then this, the Supreme Kais of both Universe 7 and 6 got super into the fight, compared to how they’re usually reserved, and started yelling at each of their fighters to win. Oh and we also found out that the two Namekian fighters that Gohan and Piccolo were fighting for the past few episodes, are actually the last of Universe 6 fighters.
All roads points now to Goku fighting with Jiren. But will it be in the next few episodes or are we going to have a bit more filler fights like Gohan and Piccolo against the Universe 6 Namekians until then? Only time will tell.
