The second season of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger picks up a few months after the events of the first season’s finale. It opens with a juxtaposition of the first scenes of the series premiere. Tyrone, still living in the church and in hiding from the police, has been practicing using his powers and is now using them to take down low level street thugs and drug dealers. Tandy is trying to get back into her real life and has returned to taking dance classes.
The episode does a good job of reintroducing the characters and catching us up on what has been going on with them over the few months since the last season. The relationship between Tandy and Tyrone has grown into a genuine friendship, though each continues to keep secrets that eventual result in a predictable blow up and temporary parting of ways.
Eventually they are able to repair their relationship and agree to attempt to begin working together to help the NOPD with stopping some of the drug lords that are in the process of working to take over the city. The ending of the episode is a good cliffhanger and purports the existence of a powerful enemy that the two young heroes are going to have to face at some point in the near future.
