Episode 2 of Golden Experience was a little disappointing. The second episode is always where the opening and ending cinematic and song premier and Jojo has previously had some phenomenal ones so the bar was already set high set high.

Visually, the opening is probably the best since the Part 1 and 2 intros. The musical accompaniment though was not what I expected. It felt more lowkey than the heart pounding openings that preceded it. I am sure it will grow on me over the next few weeks (or even next few hours as I re-watch the episode) but at the moment it sits a little uneasy.

The ending though has neither part working for it. The images on screen are just the character drawing, sliding across screen with some transparency. There is no animated Mayan sacrifice like Part 1 and 2 or no trip through Morioh like Part 4. The ending song, while it certainly makes some sense in context, having every episode end and immediately transfer into an RNB singer saying “I wake up feeling so horny” feels off and it certainly won’t work as well once the more serious episodes start to come about.
The final point of disappointment is, simply, the narrator did not say “And Giorno lied” as the panel from the manga is particularly famous.

The rest of the episode, aka the majority of it, was actually of incredibly quality. The Bruno and Giorno fight was great, there was the horrible sub name for the stand Sticky Fingers and Zipper Man, the beautiful color switches continue, and Giorno’s character background was given.
