Happy Tuesday everyone! After last weeks haul, today is going to feel like a light week. I’ve got two picks for you, Downsizing and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Downsizing

When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to overpopulation, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community — a choice that triggers life-changing adventures. – Paramount Pictures

Downsizing is easily one of the weirdest movies of the year, at least plot wise. Like so bizarre but somehow it’s also one of the most relatable movies of the year. I think we can all agree Matt Damon is great. Matt Damon plays a completely average guy and almost anyone can see a bit of themselves in him. The bizarre yet down to earth and relatable characters make Downsizing an enjoyable watch. Laughs and heart, a plenty.

Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves – or they’ll be stuck in the game forever. – Sony Pictures Entertainment

I think it’s safe to say if you were a kid during the 90’s or 00’s, Jumanji was one your favorite movies. Of course, when I heard that there was a sequel/reboot of Jumanji in the works, I was apprehensive. Then I heard the Rock was involved, I got less worried, even in a bad movie the Rock is great. I had zero expectations for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and after leaving the theater I was pleasantly surprised. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was easily the funniest movie of 2017, I had a complete blast start to finish. This movie has action, humor, heart and just enough callbacks to the original to make this movie a worthy sequel.
