In case you have missed it, earlier this week, Warner. Bros Interactive Entertainment announced that they are bringing out a new collection of mobile games and console games set in the wizarding world. This will be released under the new label Portkey Games.
The first game is already in the making. It will be called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and the release date will be somewhere in 2018. There aren’t any real details or pictures yet, but developer Niantic (known for Pokemon GO) has confirmed that it’ll use state-of-the-art augmented reality technology to reveal the magic all around us. Explore real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover mysterious artefacts, learn to cast spells, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters along the way!
The publication says “there will be significant influence from the Niantic game Ingress”, which lets you wander around the real world collecting in-game items and exploring specific locations.
The game is intended as the first of a new range of Harry Potter apps, that will also tie into the ongoing Fantastic Beats film series.
More details about this game and the others will be released in 2018, so keep a close eye on The Game of Nerds for all the latest updates!
