Look away, look away, for this article bears miserable news in regards to Season 2 of Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events… (And by miserable news, we mean good news, but hey, we had to set that mood when talking about this show.)
Earlier this summer it was announced that Nathan Fillion would be joining the cast in the upcoming season, although it was unconfirmed at the time what his role would be. In addition, Tony Hale, Roger Bart, and Lucy Bart were announced to have been given roles as well. Check out that announcement here, then read on!
Some fans suspected, at the initial announcement of this news, that Fillion would portray Jacques Snicket, the brother of the series’ narrator/character/’author’ Lemony Snicket. Producer Barry Sonnenfeld confirmed this, in an interview panel at Netflix’s FYSee event this summer.
Additionally, Tony Hale and Lucy Punch will portray Jerome and Esme Squalor, respectively, and Roger Bart will be taking on the role of Vice Principal Nero in The Austere Academy episodes.

Season 2 does not yet have a release date, but it is suspected to be sometime in early 2018. The season will cover books 5 to 10 of the series (The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival.)
