Another Tuesday is upon us. This week as promised I’ve actually seen the Blu-ray I’m picking. This weeks pick is King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Critics didn’t seem to like this one but who cares what they think, I liked it.

After the murder of his father, young Arthur’s power-hungry uncle Vortigern seizes control of the crown. Robbed of his birthright, he grows up the hard way in the back alleys of the city, not knowing who he truly is. When fate leads him to pull the Excalibur sword from stone, Arthur embraces his true destiny to become a legendary fighter and leader. – Warner Brothers Pictures

If Guy Ritchie made a Lord of the Rings movie it would be this movie. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a retelling of the Arthurian legend with a Guy Ritchie twist, fast cuts and snarky dialogue. Maybe I’m a bit biased because I enjoy Guy Ritchie’s style of filmmaking but I really enjoyed this movie. Jude Law is a fantastic villain, he goes over the top but in a good way. Charlie Hunnam is a charming and snarky Arthur with a nontraditional backstory. The best thing about this movie is the world it is set in. A common trend with movies is to take old properties mordernize them and ground them in reality. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is set in a fantastical and magical world. I have no affinity for Arthurian legend so maybe that’s why I enjoyed the movie so much because it takes some liberties. The film looks pretty good too and the score is bloody fantastic. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a fun, funny, fantasy action movie. Grab some friends and some snacks and just have fun with this one. I really would like a sequel so you should consider buying this movie.
