WWE 2K18, officially announced via a teaser trailer this past Monday, is the latest in the long running series of WWE wrestling simulation games made by YUKES and distributed by 2K Games. It is set to be released worldwide on Oct. 17, 2017 for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

The trailer consists of a masked man destroying and burning all the old wrestling props of past wrestlers that WWE has accumulated over the many decades at the company’s storage warehouse in Stamford Connecticut. At the end of the trailer, the masked man is revealed to be none other then the “Kingslayer” himself and current “New Era” WWE wrestler, Seth Rollins as he watches the building burn into the night.

While the previous games in the series focused on bygone eras of WWE be it the Hulkamania, Attitude or even Aggression eras; the newest game will instead — according to Michael Cole on the latest edition of WWE’s flagship show, RAW — follow the career of cover star, Seth Rollins. From his first steps in the company back in 2012 to apparently concluding with his epic comeback at Wrestlemania 33 this past spring in Orlando Florida against the Game and WWE COO himself, Triple H.

The game itself will be released in three different versions. A Standard Edition of the game and two special editions — one dubbed the “Deluxe Edition” and another, a physical only “Collectors Edition”.

The Standard Edition will come with the base game and if pre-ordered, a bonus digital content. The Deluxe Edition will come with a copy of the game, special packaging, season pass, the pre-ordered digital content,  additional bonus digital content and early access to play the game on October 13, 2017. Both the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game will be available physical and digital.

The Collectors Edition of the game will include everything from the Deluxe Edition and also exclusive physical collectibles. However, the actual box art for the Collectors Edition has yet to be revealed, it may not have Seth Rollins on the cover.

The actual content of all the bonuses and what exactly the collectibles are, remain to be seen with 2k gradually revealing more and more of the game over the summer.

If last year’s game was anything to go by, then most likely the weekend of WWE’s annual summer event Summerslam, which once again emanates from Brooklyn, New York on August 20, 2017, will see a surge of information released on this game.
