With the 15th anniversary of the series this year, Square Enix has released an HD remaster of the series for PS4.

This is the game that partnered Disney with Square Enix to create an action RPG that followed an original character through a quest to explore world’s (DISNEY worlds, view an official promo here) while interacting with Disney and Final Fantasy/Square Enix characters. However, this game isnt just for children or those if us filled with nostalgia, there’s a darker storyline that runs beneath the surface of the series (but we won’t spoil it for you).

You might be thinking, “But doesn’t that series have a bunch of games and stories I missed? Won’t this be expensive?”

Yes it does, and no it won’t!  Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix features FIVE complete games in one disc, for the low-low- price of $49.99.

To put it as simply and downplayed as possible, WITH THIS GAME YOU GET:

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Title Sreen

  1. Kingdom Hearts
  2. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
  3. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
  4. Kingdom Hearts 2
  5. Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
  6. *And not the game, but the cinematic remake of Kingdom Hearts: Coded*

Note that the included games are the “1.5 and 2.5 remixes” and this means they aren’t the original games you played if you got the original release copies, but are the extended versions with extra missions, enemies, options, and all the extra trailers and endings that helped flesh out the story that something of us only saw in grainy YouTube screen grabs.

Not only are the games full of nostalgia, but the actual gameplay is great as well, the main titles Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 we would easily score 9/10, with Birth By Sleep a solid 8/10, and Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days more around a 6.5/10–still respectable and so many points in one game bundle.

While there is little difference in this game from the PS3 remake versions and may not seem worth it to veterans of the series that already got those, we urge you to get Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue– not only does it include the KH3 lead in featuring Aqua (Fragmentary Passage), but also a console version of Dream Drop Distance, previously only playable on 3DS.

For new players, curious minds, or youngsters that haven’t dabbled in the series before this game is well priced and has a lot of bang for your buck. By Holiday shopping season a used copy is going to come out to equating around  $7 a game! That’s a deal we just couldn’t pass up.
