Disney is remaking the classic children’s novel, A Wrinkle In Time, into a huge movie set for release exactly a year from today!
This movie is already a game changer because it’s the first time a black woman has directed a movie that has a budget of over 100 million dollars (long overdue)! Along with being a historic project, the movie’s cast (and crew) are inclusive AF because Ava DuVernay is a god damn queen!
Let’s talk about what we know so far:
- The Story
Three celestial & peculiar beings help Meg, her brother & their friend travel through time and space to find Dr. Alex Murray, their missing father.
Based on Madeleine L’engle fantastic novel about believing in yourself and embracing the weird, the screenplay for the 2018 iteration was written by Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Zootopia, Wreck It Ralph) and it will be directed by actual goddess Ava DuVernay (Selma, 13th, Queen Sugar)
- The Cast
- Storm Reid as Meg Murray
- Deric McCabe as Charles Wallace
- Gugu Mbatha Raw as Dr. Kate Murray (Meg’s mom)
- Chris Pine as Dr. Alex Murray (Meg’s dad)
- Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit
- Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which
- Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who
The movie also stars André Holland, Levi Miller, Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard, Michael Peña & Zach Galifianakis.
