As many of you know, fall tv is just around the corner. That means that our favorite tv shows are soon back on air. Now I don’t know about you guys, but my favorite is definitely Gotham! (If it isn’t, what is wrong with you?) I honestly can’t believe we are already at the start of S3! nTo freshen your mind here’s where we left off before summer and why you should watch the 3rd season of Gotham.
We ended with the events happening in Arkham/Indian Hill and the arrest of Hugo Strange. The entire Arkham Asylum was nearly blown up by a bomb which was stopped by Lucius and Gordon. Before that Lucius and Bruce were held captive an insane Nygma and we had a look-alike Gordon walking around. After everything happened in Indian Hill, Gordon leaves everything behind to find Lee, Bullock is trusted to protect Gotham and Bruce tells Alfred of his plans to find the secret council that wants him dead. And all the monsters are still wandering around Gotham including the resurrected Fish Moony.
The third season is called Mad City and is probably a hint towards what will happen with Gotham itself and the monsters on the loose. That can’t mean anything good. The synopsis is also full of clues of what we can expect in the upcoming season. Including Jim being a bounty hunter, Fish Moony and more about the Court of Owls. Here is the full synopsis:
“GOTHAM (Mondays, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) The origin story continues on Season Three of GOTHAM, and the stakes are higher than ever, as Super-Villains more ambitious and depraved are introduced, and a realignment of alliances shakes up the fight for power in Gotham City.
Season Three will peel back the curtain on the infamous criminal organization known as the Court of The Owls. With the Indian Hill escapees on the loose, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) must take matters into his own hands as a bounty hunter in Gotham. He makes it his mission to find Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong), the mastermind behind the horrifying Indian Hill experiments, and Fish Moony (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), one of Strange’s subjects. Meanwhile, GCPD Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in the monster-ridden city. Also, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), and former Wayne Enterprises employee, Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), discovers there are still more secrets to uncover regarding his parents’ murders.
As the city sinks deeper into chaos, GOTHAM will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city’s most malevolent villains: THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor); Edward Nygma/the future Riddler (Cory Michael Smith); Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (Camren Bicondova); Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Tabitha Galavan/Tigress (Jessica Lucas) and Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell).”
A new season also needs new characters to keep the things exciting. One of them isn’t really a new character, but she will be portrayed by a different actress. Claire Foley will be replaced by Maggie Geha as an older Ivy who will be a step closer towards the DC villain she is destined to become. But the show has a typically Gotham-logic explanation for why the young actress has been replaced with an older one. An encounter with a monster from Indian Hill is most likely the cause.
We also get our first look on The Mad Hatter/Jervis Tetch(played by Benedict Samuel) but we have to wait until episode 3 before we can meet him. The Hatter is a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago. FYI: Alice is most likely being played by Naian Gonzalez Norvind.
Vicki Vale, the reporter, also makes her debut in this season. Played by Jamie Chung she is a crackerjack reporter dead set on uncovering the truth behind Indian Hill. Confident and dogged, she will do anything to get the scoop, and soon sets her sights on Gordon, who she believes is the key lead in her story.
Last but not least we have an another member of the Falcone crime family returning to Gotham in the form of young Mario Falcone(James Carpinello). He has rejected his family’s criminal ways and made a legitimate life for himself as a well-respected, Ivy League-educated ER doctor. He’s kind, honest and trustworthy, making him the black sheep of the Falcone clan. But his arrival in Gotham will create major waves in the personal life of Jim Gordon, most likely by going to try and bust up the romance between Lee and Gordon.
That is all the news I could find on the upcoming season. I can’t wait any longer, especially after making this article. But no fear, Gotham will return on the 19th of September! We’ll see you then, Gothamites!
