For many of us, the thought of crossing paths with a giant ape isn’t something we’ll look forward to. Yet we can’t get enough of giant apes in our movies. Luckily for us, the next giant ape installment is on its way. Here is what we know so far about Kong: Skull Island:
1. The Story
The story is set somewhere in the 1970s. A group of explorers, led by Captain James Conrad(Hiddleston) is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific. Conrad embarks on this journey after his brother becomes stranded there while on a quest to find a mythical serum that is supposedly the cure for all diseases and illnesses. The island is both beautiful and treacherous and the home of the mythical giant gorilla known as Kong.
2. The Cast
Tom Hiddleston will be playing the lead role. Former British SAS officer, Captain James Conrad. Brie Larson plays Weaver, a war photojournalist, and peace activist.Samuel L. Jackson as Packard, a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army hired to chopper the group of explorers on their expedition. John Goodman is Bill Randa, a government official in charge of the expedition.Jason Mitchell as Glenn Mill, a helicopter pilot. Toby Kebbell as Chapman, a Major in the US Army and right-hand man to Packard. And a mo-cap performance from Terry Notary as Kong.
There is some talk that the franchise eventually will cross paths with the 2014 reboot of Godzilla. The only concerning thing right now is the used timeline. Skull Island is set in the 1970s, while the movie of the new King of the Monsters, Godzilla, is set in the present day.
That’s all we know! Now we only have to wait until march 10th 2017 to see it in theaters. Just… don’t make Kong angry until that time.
