I don’t know if I have ever laughed so hard as I did watching this episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. At one point, there were tears streaming down my face… now, I’m a cryer, but this was for a complete different reason, I literally lauged so hard I cried.
In my opinion, this was the most solid episode of the season, thanks in no small part to the return of Tina Fey (in a completely different role!) and the amazing comedic acting of Tituss Burgess. Give them both Emmy’s, ok?
Kimmy continues to drive Uber at night when Jacqueline doesn’t need her car and it’s in this capacity that Fey’s character, Andrea, is introduced. Andrea is a successful psychiatrist, with a drinking problem and a Jekyl and Hyde-like personality. At night, she is drunk Andrea, who gladly gives life advice to her Uber driver. In the daytime, she is day Andrea, a successful psychiatrist who refuses to take Kimmy on as a patient, even though Kimmy is having some trouble dealing with her past. Eventually, Kimmy (with the help of drunk Andrea) is able to manipulate day Andrea into taking her on as a patient, opening the door for more appearances by Fey and more importantly, Kimmy getting the help that she needs with her demons.
Elsewhere, Titus is depressed after leaving his job. He’s homebound, spending his days playing with his barbies and drinking boxed-wine. When Kimmy asks him to buy a cassette tower for their Columbia House collection, he is unable to. But after finding some inspiration in music and the desire to show Kimmy that he can finish something to completion, Titus is successful, digging through a landfill until he can locate a cassette tower from the 90′s. Success!
