It’s hard to believe it but it’s been 18 years since the
Mummy 1999 with Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah first came out in
the cinemas. I grew up watching this films more times than I can count and I
know it inside out, so naturally, I am excited to see what will happen in the
new reboot they’re making. There aren’t a whole lot of details out yet but here
is what we know so far:
TOM CRUISE is signed on as the lead and SOPHIA BOUTELLA as
the monster.
This will be the first time in the Mummy Franchise that a
female actress will play the lead villain so it’ll be interesting to see where
Sophia takes this.

The official release date has been set to June 9th
2017 and it will be directed by Alex Kurtzman, who has been an executive
producer on shows like Hawaii Five 0 and Sleepy Hollow as well as Scorpion.
Other cast members joining the project will be ANNABELLE
WALLIS, JAKE JOHNSON and COURTNEY B VANCE. However, RUSSEL CROWE is the only
actors whose character has a name so far. He will play Doctor Henry Jekyll.
The creators have been very quiet and remained secretive
about this project and there is not a lot news out there yet. I can’t help but
to wonder what era it will be set in? Will it still be in the past or will they
actually take the franchise to the present day?
One thing is for sure, we are SO Excited!
