Episode Synopsis:
Jess jumps back into the dating pool, but her attempt lands her a dud (guest star Taran Killam), and things get complicated when she falls in love with his perfect parents (guest stars Henry Winkler and Julie Haggerty). Meanwhile, Nick and Schmidt have very different ideas about how to run the bar.
Ok, well first of all, what was that weird commentary/stage direction going on throughout the episode? They never do that, so what was the reason behind it?
The Gang:
Jess & Winston- I always love when they pair Jess and Winston together. I feel like their characters are similar in some ways, so it’s nice to see their interactions together. Taran Killam made me laugh throughout the whole episode because of how dull his character was. And seeing how everyone reacted toward him was super funny. The breakdancing scenes were so good! Henry Winkler and Julie Haggerty were super likable and seeing Jess and Winston try to figure out a plan to hang out with them more was comedy gold. It was funny seeing Winston at first giving Jess all these words of wisdom to hang in there and get to know Fred, but after meeting Fred’s parents too, he completely changed his tune and wanted to ditch Fred as quick as Jess did. It was also great to see Winston and Nasim Pedrad’s character back together again. I hope we get to see more of them in the future.
Nick, Schmidt & Cece- Sadly, Cece didn’t have a huge storyline in this episode, but she did cause some friction for Nick and Schmidt at the bar when she went on strike when the boys changed some rules. On the flip side, it was great to see Nick and Schmidt running the bar and see how they would handle running a business. You definitely would have thought that Schmidt would be in control and make things run smoothly (like he does with his party planning), but in this instance, Nick took the lead. Howrah! I mean, Nick wasn’t great in the beginning obviously, since he fired his co-worker, which led to chaos at the bar, but he made things right the Nick Miller way and all was great at work again. And it was funny to see Schmidt out of the loop for a change.
I actually thought this weeks episode was funnier than last weeks, so let’s hope the episodes keep getting funnier and funnier.
