The first 11th Doctor’s Christmas special was one that in my mind topped The End Of Time. I thought it was one that was more in the spirit of the holiday. A clever retelling of a classic.I enjoyed how the Doctor used his Tardis to travel and rewrite someone timeline in order to make them into a better person. It showed how impactful The Doctor can be in the lives of many just by being himself. The character Kazran Sardick was very well written and I’m happy he wasn’t just another villain but rather someone who has been damaged by pain. I felt that we saw this adventure through his eyes as he saw his younger self joining the Doctor for Christmas Eve. I was very happy to see him grow throughout the episode.

This Christmas special capture the feel of both of Christmas and what the show was about. It showed how The Doctor could do so much in what seems to be an hour in the hour of Amy Pond. This special is one that balanced humor, drama, scares and change very well. This was in my mind the highest point of the season and a great way to end the 11th Doctor first season run. It showed how we can revisit old classic tales, give it the Doctor Who treatment and received something that is unpredictable, original and magical while keeping a well fitted sense of time traveling.
