Time Heist sets up up with a question of who could be calling the TARDIS. The Doctor and Clara receive a call only to awaken to see a thief and a mutant which alone already sound like a great concept. Psi is a hacker and thief, who along with a shapeshifter name Saibra awaken with no idea of how they got there. I able to tell you that this great set up. I was happy to say that the two newcommers held their own during this story. They find out that they are now part of a mission to pull off a heist which they all agreed to just before having heir memory being wipe clean by someone who calls himself the ”The Architect”. The group must find a way to break into Bank of Karabraxos, which happens to be the most impregnable bank vault in the universe.
Shorty after they have made their way into the bank, we witness their biggest security problem. A mindreading alien who is call the bank’s “Teller.“

This story felt like a perfect mix of Doctor Who and Oceans 11. Being a fan of heist films, I can safety say that this is a great heist story. I believe it takes smart writing in order to tell a good heist story and this was a great one. It was a smart idea that was held together with characters who brought something new to the table. I really enjoyed the idea of the Teller being this alien that can read guilt off people’s minds and can make anyone brain dead. It made him dangerous and I felt that The Doctor and Clara were really in danger. Having them “kill” Psi and Saibra really got to me though. Even though we only had them on screen for a bit, they had enough time to grow on us and we knew enough about them to care. It also pushed us to really want to know the Architect’s end game. However once the story moved on, we find that Psi and Saibra are alive. I knew we were in for a real treat. I was happy to say that the ending of this episode was very very smart. I was very impress by how they were able to introduce such great characters with a multilayered stories in one hour. The ending was in true Doctor Who fashion with new faces that I hope will return for more stories. Time Heist is a very clever story held by interesting characters whoa re full of surprises. This one episode with strong rewatch value for everyone.
