If anyone know what it’s like to be the underdog, it’s Harry. He has fought his way out of a corner more than once. So when the doodoo hit’s the fan, Harry is who you want in your corner fighting with you.
We find Harry and Molly in the middle of a snowball fight. This isn’t just a regular snowball fight though. Harry is teaching his apprentice Molly how to shield and has enlisted Molly’s younger brothers and sisters to help while her mother Charity watches.
We open to Kai healing a man. Kai seems to be the real deal in miracle healing. The man is next in his hotel room and is pushed into the tub and held underwater by a force we cannot see. Manny live across the street from the hotel and saw what was happening. He ran into the hotel to save the man but was unfortunately too late.
People are dying. In Chicago that’s nothing new but the string of deaths prompts Murphy to call Harry in. Harry notices that the dead have something in common. They are all magical practitioners.
Harry Dresden has spent a number of years under the Doom of Damocles. The White Counsel wanted him dead but allowed him to live under the threat of death from the Wardens. The Wardens viewed Harry as a threat and Morgan most of all wanted to stamp out the threat. Harry never dreamed he would ever be a warden.
