It’s a brand-new day, and a brand-new season of South Park, everyone! Or should we say South America? In case you haven’t heard the news, Matt Stone and Trey Parker decided that, at least for this season, they changed the name of their show to South America. It’s yet another jab at the antics of the President, who recently decided to follow up on renaming the Gulf of Mexico by declaring Lake Ontario is now ‘Lake America.’ They even updated the theme song for the first time in years to reflect the town’s new name! You would think that the show would make a bigger deal about this random name change, but they don’t. Instead, we get some good old-fashioned South American* chaos involving E-Bikes!

*we will be referring to South Park as South America until Matt and Trey decide the joke has run its course. If you are actually from South America, know that this is just a joke and should not be taken seriously.

E-Bike Craze in South America

It’s a glorious new day in South America as the boys are now back in town. For the first time in a decade, our four main boys are living in their homes in South America, doing what the South American Boys do, like enjoying things they think are cool. The new thing that’s in is the E-Bike. Which, as the show points out, is basically like giving a kid a cheaper motorcycle. And the boys obviously want them because they’re cool. I don’t blame them either. They’re pretty fast for bikes, and if they had been around when I was a kid, maybe I wouldn’t have quit riding a bike everywhere. So, naturally, they each get one. Cartman gaslights his mom into getting him one (classic Cartman) so he can lord it over everyone else. The other three boys pool their money together to buy some cheap ones from Lu Kim’s new City E-Bikes. But there is a high chance that they may explode! Keep that in mind.

And now it’s time for another round of

RANDY RUINS EVERYTHING!

So, Randy Marsh is currently in his health nut phase as he’s going all in on bike riding. And I have to say, I do not see the appeal behind those biker clothes, especially on someone like Randy. At any rate, he takes one look at the kids riding E-bikes and is not happy. Not only does he see them as cheating, but is convinced that they are getting kids to become part of violent street gangs who break the law and smoke weed. Typical Randy hypocrisy, I know. In reality, though, the only one who’s actually being a jerk with their E-Bike is Cartman. He’s just the most prominent person to do it.

I also want to point out the fact that, compared to the E-Bike kids, Randy and the traditional bikers are more of a gang. They beat up Lu Kim for selling the E-Bikes, hang out in a jamba juice bar like a gang, and also ride in the middle of the street. Which isn’t illegal since they have the right of way, but come on. We’ve probably all met that one biker who is abusing that right to slow down traffic on purpose. And what they do is downright messed up.

OH MY GOD! THEY KILLED KENNY! YOU B*****RDS

So, remember how those knock-off e-bikes had a high chance of exploding? They do. And guess who gets killed? Kenny! For the first time in forever, we got a Kenny death! Proof that the show is trying to get back to basics!

At first, it seems like this was just because of the faulty bikes, so it took me a minute to realize it. As the ending of the episode reveals, though, it’s heavily implied that Randy and the other guys put a bomb on his bike when he came to offer an olive branch. To his credit, though, Randy didn’t know it was Kenny, and was rightfully horrified about what happened. That doesn’t stop him and the others from using his death to bribe the cops, kill another e-bike seller, and convince the mayor to ban E-Bikes from South America. And that was another episode of

I’m not that worried about Kenny, though. Every time he dies, he just comes back later on like it’s nothing. Even when Matt and Trey decided to kill him off for good years ago, they backtracked and brought him back again. Regardless, though, I was very happy with how this episode turned out. Just the boys being boys and enjoying something cool. Besides, everything will be better in November…because that’s when GTA VI comes out. Speaking of which, how cool would it be if South Park decided to go all in on the GTA VI craze with another video game episode? I would love to see it!
