As we slowly approach the last quarter of the year, we’ve had many great anime seasons and movies come out, and there’s way more to come! Let’s discuss some exciting new content that we can expect in the next several months. I will keep this list spoiler free for those of you who need to catch up on a few shows.
- The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 and Movie
It’s a big year for us Apothecary Diaries fans! With 48 episodes currently, if you’re not caught up, you have just over a month to do so as part 1 of season 3 premieres on Friday, October 2nd on Crunchyroll. There’s also an original movie coming out December 11th for Japanese viewers, with no official release date for international viewers. Finally, part 2 of season 2 will come out in April of 2027, so we have plenty of Maomao and Jinshi to look forward to!
- Fool Night Premieres
A new sci-fi dystopian anime is coming out November 26th on Netflix, with all episodes anticipated to drop at the same time. Fool Night is set in a world where the sun is obscured. It has left Earth perpetually dark and humans creating transflorstion, where some humans are made to become like plants to produce oxygen and keep humanity alive. We will be following a protagonist named Toshiro Kamiya, who undergoes the transfloration. This concept fascinates me and I’ll be tuning in when it releases in a few short months.
- Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 2
As Demon Slayer continues along the final arcs of the show, many of us are anticipating the return of the Infinity Castle arc. With fans waiting for the 2nd of the trilogy of movies to complete the anime. While there’s no official release as of now, it’s suggested that the 2nd movie is set to come out sometime in 2027. I would assume it’ll follow a similar release pattern of dropping in Japan first before a wider international release, but only time will tell.
- Kagurabachi
Kagurabachi is another new show coming out in April 2027 on Crunchyroll. The story follows a young man named Chihiro who is the son of a swordsmith. When his father is killed by sorcerers and steals six of his powerful swords, Chihrio goes on a mission to avenge him and recover the stolen swords. This is also a highly anticipated show that I’m eager to check out.
- Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4
After a crazy part 1 of the Culling Games arc, we can expect season 4 to come back sometime early 2027 to continue the arc. Not much else is known about an official release date, but we can safely assume it’ll drop on Crunchyroll. As someone who’s been following JJK since the start, I’m excited to see how this did develops and what will happen once with Yuji, Megumi, and company.
- Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery Movie
After quite a long hiatus from season 2’s release in 2022, Made in Abyss is finally coming back with a movie. It’ll continue on directly from the events of the The Golden City of the Scorching Sun arc. The movie releases in Japan on October 23rd, with no official international release yet. Even if it takes some time, I’m just happy we finally have news on this anime after years of silence!
- DanDaDan Season 3
The hijinks continue as Momo and Okarun return in 2027 for season 3. They’ll continue to prove that the supernatural they encounter are real. Season 3 is expected to come out on Crunchyroll. Even if there’s no official release date just yet, but we can expect to hear an update in the coming months.
2027 is looking to be an insanely stacked year for anime in general. Other shows like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Delicious in Dungeon, Solo Leveling, and many more are coming out. We have a lot of anime releases to look forward to!
