San Diego Comic-Con 2026 kicks off this week, and if you know anything about TGON, you know we could not let that go without a celebration. Every year Comic-Con reminds us exactly why we love these stories, these characters, and these worlds. They make us feel something. They make us want to be better. That is what Monday Motivation is built for.

This week we are pulling one quote from five of the biggest franchises descending on San Diego right now. Whether you are on the floor of the convention center or watching the Hall H announcements from your couch, this one is for you. Let’s make it a week worthy of Hall H.

1. “If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself.” — Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson said this as a kid who had been told his whole life that he was not smart enough, not capable enough, and not built for greatness. He was dyslexic, impulsive, and the son of a god nobody at Olympus particularly wanted to deal with. And he decided anyway that his story was his to write.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is back at SDCC this week and this quote is the reason the fandom never stopped showing up. Nobody gets to decide what your life means except you. Not the odds, not the expectations, not the people who underestimated you in the first chapter. Live it yourself. Start today.

2. “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.” — Galadriel, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Galadriel says this about a hobbit who had never done anything extraordinary in his life before the moment everything depended on him. She was not being poetic. She was being precise. Frodo was the right person for the quest not despite his smallness but because of who he was inside it.

The Rings of Power Season 3 is headed to SDCC and Middle-earth is back in the conversation in a big way. Take this one into your Monday. You do not need to be the most powerful, the most experienced, or the most obvious choice. You just need to show up and keep moving. The course of things has been changed by smaller hands than yours.

3. “Boldly go.” — Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation

Two words. Possibly the most efficient Monday Motivation ever written. Star Trek has been delivering its mission statement for over sixty years and it still has not lost a single thing. Go boldly. Not carefully. Not cautiously. Not when you feel ready. Boldly, right now, into whatever is in front of you.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds brings its full cast to SDCC this week and the franchise has never been more alive. The original mission of the Enterprise was not to play it safe in comfortable space. It was to go where nobody had gone before. Your Monday deserves that same energy. Pick a direction. Go boldly in it.

4. “Rest in peace. Now get up and go to war.” — Rick Grimes, The Walking Dead

Rick Grimes heard this from his grandfather, a soldier who survived by making peace with the worst every single morning before he even got out of bed. He accepted that the hardest thing was already happening. Then he got up and did what needed doing anyway. Every day. Until he made it out the other side.

The Walking Dead is back at SDCC this week and this quote is the reason Rick Grimes became one of the most iconic characters in television history. He was not optimistic. He was not fearless. He just refused to let fear be the reason he stayed down. Say it to yourself on a Monday morning when the week feels impossible. Rest in peace. Now get up and go to war.

5. “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight.” — Green Lantern Corps Oath, DC Comics / Lanterns

The Green Lantern oath is not a catchphrase. It is a covenant. It is a declaration made out loud, every single time, before the fight begins. Brightest day, meaning when everything is easy. Blackest night, meaning when it absolutely is not. The Lanterns show up for both without exception.

DC’s Lanterns hits Hall H at SDCC this Friday ahead of its August 16 premiere on HBO, and this oath is exactly the energy that show is built on. Walk into your week with that same declaration.
