Most Anticipated New Games Coming in August 2026

This year has been an incredible year for new game releases and is likely to only get better as the year goes on. From new games like Windrose and Slay the Spire 2, to remakes like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, as well as games moving out of early access like Palworld and Path of Exile 2, there is no shortage of massive releases in 2026. On top of all that, some of the most anticipated games in gaming history, Grand Theft Auto 6 and The Witcher 4 are supposedly going to be released near the end of 2026. This is just a long-winded way of saying that 2026 is a completely stacked year for gaming despite the somewhat desperate situation behind the scenes of the gaming industry. August 2026 is no different – there are several long-awaited game releases and some potential lesser-known titles that have the chance to make it big.

Before getting into the list, there are a couple things to keep in mind. 1) All games are listed in chronological order based on release date. 2) This list does not speak to the quality of the games; while these games are anticipated to be good, it is possible that they may not be good games. 3) This list is not recommending any of the games listed, just mentioning them as notable. If a game seems interesting, please do research on it before making the purchase. With those disclaimers out of the way, here is the list.

Beast of Reincarnation – August 4^th – This souls-like RPG is set in a post-apocalypse Japan where corruption and monsters have brought ruin to the land. Emma and her dog Koo must survive the wasteland to carve out a life for themselves in this dangerous land. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – August 6^th – A new Marvel-based game is a 4v4 tag team fighting game. It allows players to fight as famous/infamous heroes and villains and takes place in familiar settings while maintaining similar mechanics to other Marvel fighting games. This game will be available on PC and PlayStation 5.

Duskfade – August 13^th – A high action and combat 3D platformer, Duskfade follows Zirian who is a quest to save his sister from Clocktower and the Clockmaker that has brought eternal night to the land. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam – August 13^th – The second game in this series offers a high action 50 vs. 50 PVP war experience set in the brutal landscape of Vietnam war with a variety of weapons and land, water, and air combat. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

The Sinking City 2 – August 18^th – Set in a fictional early 1900s United States based on Lovecraft, the player explores that abandoned city of Arkham that has been overrun by ancient monsters and supernatural weather events with the goal of discovering the mystery behind the city. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

Mortal Shell 2 – August 20^th – A sequel to Mortal Shell, this souls-like RPG emphasizes complex combat systems and a massive open world for the player explore, build their character, and evolve their combat styles. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy – August 27^th – A prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia the plunderer as she traverses through the trials and tribulations of the Minotaur’s island uncover the truth behind this mythical creature. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

Star Wars Zero Company – August 27^th – A new look on a historic franchise, this game is a single player turn-based game that allows the player to oversee tactical wargames on a galactic level. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 – August 27 – Not a new game, remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 1 and 2, and Xbox Series X.
