While the holiday season may be fully gone by now, there are always new games coming out. This coming February has some exciting new games coming down the pipeline that I am excited to see. So without further ado, here is my list of games coming in February to keep an eye on.

Mewgenics

Anyone who has been on the internet long enough surely has a twisted sense of humor and a love of funny cats doing things cats shouldn’t do. Mewgenics, a new project from the creator of Binding of Isaac has classic internet humor written all over it. A rougelike turn-based tactical game in which players raise generations of warrior cats to search for loot! On the steam page the game boasts incredible amounts of customization and power-ups for your cats. After your adventurer cats return home with treasures and experiences, a generational breeding mechanic will allow you to pick which traits to pass on to future generations of cats. In turn that sets up the next run into the dungeon. With such a legendary development team behind it I am excited for this game coming out February 10th.

ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard

Normally I stay away from sequels for these lists. Instead I try to highlight entirely new games. However, ChromaGun 2 looks like too much fun to ignore. At first glance I get strong Portal vibes but with new elements. Namely the idea of mixing paint in order to solve puzzles implies more than just the old blue/orange gate system.

Continuing the parallels, the player takes on a test taker who has “voluntarily” agreed to solve intricate puzzles using ChromaTec magnetoid chromatism. What does that mean exactly? I have no rightly idea. But, the tongue and cheek style of the writing brings me back to my days solving Valve’s pinnacle puzzle game. Seeing as Portal 3 is nowhere to be seen some 15 years after Portal 2, I’m glad to see someone else stepping up. I might even swing back and pick up the first ChromaGun game to see if there’s any more of the story I need to be informed on to enjoy this game. Look for it coming out February 12th.

Dead in Antares

This game looks so much up my alley I had to play the demo immediately upon seeing the description of this game. Dead in Antares is a space themed turn-based survival management with rpg elements? Yeah I’ll give it a go. Believe me I was not disappointed. From the opening of the establishing cinematic I was hooked. Great theming leads into great gameplay as I quickly found myself getting into the one more turn routine and trying to find the best way to distribute rations and jobs to the survivors of my crash site. Figuring out the most efficient way to collect and allocate resources is always such a rewarding task in these games. Probably of the games on this list, this is the one I am most excited for. Catch me streaming it when it comes out February 19th.

Demon Tides

It has been so great to see platformers coming back. Since I have started this list series I have seen so many interesting and fun ideas from platformers. All of it brings me back to the PlayStation 2 era where there were so many games coming out that some would have to be bangers. Demon Tides follows this tradition of fun and zany adventures in platforming. Bright colours and cutesy art combined with inventive and fun puzzles. Unlockable outfits and expanded powers creates a successful formula of expansion and exploration. Check this game out when it drops on February 19th.

Seclusa

If you are anything like me, life has been a lot recently. Trying to stay on top of everything going on and keeping oneself happy really takes a toll on time. Seclusa is a game that helps the player sit down and relax for a bit. Enjoy what life has to offer. From lining up a perfect shot to petting the cat in the lodge. Editing photos or working on a jigsaw. All set to soothing music and soft nature noises. In a chaotic and frightening world this is a game brings a moment of much needed peace. I for one could use a game like this in my life. Look for it to drop later in the month of February.
