There’s still some sort of rip in the space-time continuum, because I cannot comprehend how fast this week has gone. I swear I only wrote last week’s round-up about five minutes ago, and yet here I am again. We’ve had another one of those weeks where most of the street seem to have lost their minds, so let’s get on with rounding it all up.

Holly is Being Very Weird

Holly and Andrew decided to try to act normally in order not to arouse any suspicion while they tried to figure out how to run away and start a new life down the peninsula, but neither of them seem able to actually do it, especially not Holly. She is behaving SO erratically – dumping all of her friends, biting Karl and Susan’s heads off every time they try to talk to her, announcing that she’s leaving Erinsborough, and peering through the fence into Andrew’s garden every night.

Despite all this, it’s only when she and Andrew almost get sprung in the Adultery Bar, or wherever it is they’ve been meeting up, that people start to realise there’s something going on with her. She has to pretend she’s out on a bender by herself in order to cause enough of a diversion for Andrew to leave without being seen by Sadie, Taye and Max, and Holly’s pretend drunkenness finally tips Max off that there’s something off with her. Susan is also getting the feeling that there’s something not quite right with Holly.

On top of all that, she forces another meet-up up with Andrew BY HIDING IN HIS GARDEN, and gives him an ultimatum – by the time she gets back from her trip to scout out jobs and houses for their new life, he has to have left Wendy. While I can see how she’s frustrated with him making promises and not following through on them, giving him an ultimatum seems a bit extreme. The man is married, it’s not like she’s asking him to decide what he wants for tea tonight.

This is all getting messier by the day, and Holly starting to act like a bunny boiler is not going to help matters.

All Nic Wants is Another Baby

Nicolette has been wanting another baby for a while, and when Leo tells her about Krista not wanting to go through another pregnancy, she decides to ask them if they want to enter into a co-parenting arrangement with her instead.

Jane isn’t convinced it’s a good idea, and neither is Leo – in fact, he doesn’t even tell Krista about the offer, and she only finds out about it because Jane puts her foot in it and tells Krista. By this time, Leo has already turned Nicolette down, and Krista is mad that he did that without even consulting her first.

With something as big as a co-parenting arrangement, you’d expect people to spend a good amount of time trying to sum up the pros and cons of doing it and talking about how things would work, but Leo and Krista come around to the idea and tell Nicolette they want to go ahead within the space of a day or so.

I’m not against the idea as a whole, because in the end it worked out pretty well with Nicolette, Aaron and David, but it’s a huge decision, and I’m willing to bet I spent more time deciding what colour to paint my bedroom than they’ve spent on coming to the conclusion that they want to become co-parents with a woman who once sold a baby to Paul. And that’s without mentioning the complex family dynamics, where Abigail and Isla would share a half-sister as well as being cousins. It’s all a bit Habsburg.

Greggy In The Middle

We discovered last week that Greg is in bed with the Linwells, and this week it appears that he’s caught up with them against his will. They’ve obviously got something they’re holding over him, and it’s because of this that he agreed to let them bop him on the head in order to place him in a position where he’d be closer to Cara and able to spy on her. It puts him firmly in the middle, between his family and the people trying to do them harm – not an ideal position to be in.

But he’s not being as smart as he thinks he is, because as soon as Felix comes back into their lives, Greg is under suspicion. JJ is excited to be able to spend more time with Felix – he’s even calling him Dad now – and Cara is pleased to have someone else around to keep watch over them all. But Greg is not happy to have Felix around, and he immediately puts a stop to him moving in with them – Felix’s background as a criminal is obviously giving Greg the heebie jeebies, but his knee jerk reaction to Felix just makes him even more suspicious of Greg.

That suspicion grows when Felix sees Greg chatting out in the open with one of the thugs from Cara’s police file, which she should absolutely not have shown Felix, but that’s beside the point. Rather than say anything though, Felix just tries to snoop through Greg’s stuff, and gets caught in the act, so his ability to act as an amateur detective clearly needs some work. I still think Elle will be the key to finding out what’s going on with Greg, and I think her obvious attraction to Felix is how she’s going to get sucked back into the case.

Andrew Continues To Be Terrible At Everything

Honestly, is there anything this man can do successfully? Despite being a police officer who surely has done plenty of covert operations, he seems unable to have an affair with Holly without taking the most enormous risks. First they meet in their favourite bar in the city, where they bizarrely think they stand no chance of being seen, and they almost get sprung by Max, Taye and Sadie. Andrew has no better idea than hide in a cupboard for ages, making himself late for Felix’s welcome dinner, and it’s Holly who eventually comes up with the idea to pretend to be drunk in order to cause enough of a diversion for Andrew to sneak out unnoticed.

Next he arranges to meet Holly in public, in the middle of the day, where they are seen by Greg. Greg is a man who may need a convenient way to get the police to back off from the Linwells at some point, so you can bet your bottom dollar that him seeing Andrew and Holly together is going to come back and bite Andrew on the butt.

On top of all this, he continues to be very absent, evasive and downright weird at home. It is surely only a matter of time before all this unravels.

Did he ever actually finish the police academy? Because, I’ll be honest, I’ve got my doubts.

Paul and Elle to Launch an Evil Empire

Elle is having trouble finding a job since rubbing everyone in Erinsborough up the wrong way during her brief foray into guerrilla journalism, and Paul is at a major loose end since Krista shooed him away from the hotel, as if he was a cat trying to poo in the neighbour’s garden.

The obvious answer is for them to start soome sort of business together, so I can only assume they’re going to form some sort of evil empire and build a Death Star or something. Or maybe Taye and Sadie will finally find an investor for their skincare brand? Presumably if the Robinsons invest they’ll have to change the name of it to Paulelle or something. I hope this scenario does happen because Paul and Taye trying to have a business relationship is going to be a riot.

A Few Random Notes

As usual, here are a few random notes I took while watching Neighbours this week:

  • Wow, Holly. That’s a great way to avoid suspicion, asking why Susan wanted to say hello to Andrew. Her neighbour.
  • Krista’s pink under-eye shadow makes it look like she’s got wicked pinkeye.
  • I like this version of Felix, he’s less limp than last time he was here.
  • Bit risky speaking to a Linwell in broad daylight, Greg.
