Coming to a Barnes and Noble (and Amazon) near you… Covenant Volume 4 by LySandra Vuong!

Ezra is not like most priests you know. As an exorcist within the Church of Providence, his life’s purpose is to protect the world from demons with the heavenly weapons tattooed upon his skin and the power bestowed upon him by the Archangel Gabriel. No one fights harder than Ezra, but he has always struggled with the thing that matters most: believing in God.

His faith is put to the ultimate test when he is given a mission from Gabriel himself to protect Sunny, a seemingly normal human, from the demons who hunt him at all costs. But death has followed Sunny all his life and he isn’t willing to let another person close to him, even if Ezra might be the only person with the power to help.

With his church under scrutiny and his friends in danger, Ezra must decide what is more important: his friends, his faith, or the brooding stranger with a hot temper and a bloody past, whose fate has suddenly fallen into Ezra’s hands.

The highly popular Webtoon Covenant by LySandra Vuong (otherwise known as explodikid) is releasing its fourth physical volume on December 1st, 2025, which is already available for pre-order here with Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Vuong, the writer and artist, has been publishing Covenant on Webtoon since 2020 and has reached 90 episodes, spanning 2 full seasons, on the platform. Volume 3 finishes the arc of the first season of Covenant  and Volume 4 will pick up right where we left off: in the middle of chaos.

Volume 3: Where did we leave off?

Volume 3 finishes with the Webtoon episode 50, the season finale, so naturally Volume 4 will start with Webtoon episode 51, the beginning of the second season of Covenant. At the end of Volume 3, we were left in chaos, facing the consequences of Ezra’s choice to save his friends over Sunny.

Ezra is finally able to find his conviction, choosing to believe in a better tomorrow, a tomorrow where he can live with himself and the choices he makes. This decision allows him to finally awaken the power the Archangel Gabriel blessed him with, but in choosing his friends, Belial is able to complete her ritual and destroy Sunny’s mortal shell.

No one knows what this means for Sunny, or for the fate of the world, but Ezra and his team are surprised (and relieved) to find that although Sunny has died, his body is slowly healing itself. They are rushed to Vatican City, where Sunny eventually wakes healed and confused. But the Great Church is scared and point their fingers at Sunny, the son of a demon, a nephilim, blaming him for everything that has happened.

Ezra is not willing to give up on Sunny, but when he is suddenly overcome by the demonic power inside of him, no one is sure what Belial’s ritual has started and if Sunny will ever be able to regain control of himself and the humanity Ezra is sure is still within him.

Onto the bookshelf, off of Webtoon

Although we are fortunate to be getting physical copies of Covenant, Vuong will no longer be continuing to publish Covenant on Webtoon.

On January 25th of 2025, Vuong posted an author’s note to the Webtoon’s official page stating that due to worsening mental health and severe burnout, they would no longer be publishing the comic through Webtoon. Webtoon had been preventing them from sharing the release of their graphic novel by deleting their credits off of their own episodes, hindering them from sharing the news with all their readers. Due to this, they made the choice to stop publishing on Webtoon.

Vuong assured their readers that this is not the end of Covenant, and to follow them on instagram, tiktok, twitter and/or bluesky (@explodikid) in order to stay up to date on news for the continued release of Covenant. We have already seen three volumes of Covenant released through Barnes and Noble and Amazon and Vuong has shared the release of the fourth on December 1st as well as the fifth, set to be published on April 7th, 2026.

Vuong is still very active on social media. They attend many conventions a year where you can find them at their booth selling art from Covenant as well as fanart from many different fandoms, including Baldur’s Gate 3, Arcane, Love and Deepspace, and Expedition 33.

If you are a reader from Webtoon who is sad to see that Covenant is currently at a standstill, please consider giving Vuong a follow on any of their socials to stay up-to-date on news about Covenant, as well as buying the volumes of Covenant through either Barnes and Noble or Amazon to support the author. We don’t know when we will be getting more of the story, but Vuong remains passionate about their graphic novel, so I hope to see them continue to publish more novels in the future.
