With the recent announcement of Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce, I can’t help but think back to another strong man that she once dated…in December…who was so much cooler because he could transform into a werewolf. In real life, we call him Taylor Launter, but in our more enjoyable, imaginary life, his name is Jacob. It had me wanting to revisit the amazing franchise that he was a part of. Which then led me down a rabbit hole to discover that Twilight is going to be back in theaters. Yes. You read that correctly. This October, Fathom Entertainment and Lionsgate will re-release all five Twilight films in theaters to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Stephenie Meyer’s debut novel. Hard to believe two decades have passed—and yet, we’re still completely in love with the saga that grew from that very first book.
Will they be the same?
According to an article from Deadline, the new screenings will include exclusive roundtable chats for each of the films with Meyer; producers Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt; Gillian Bohrer, former Lionsgate Co-President of Production; and Erik Feig, former Co-President of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. I am certainly crossing my fingers that Stephanie uses these roundtables as a chance to announce any upcoming books in the works (Twilight-related or not). Other than that, the films will be the same, just on the big screen once more.
When and where?
Each movie will only be in theatres for one night. And the schedule is as follows:
Oct 29, 2025 → Twilight
Oct 30, 2025 → New Moon
Oct 31, 2025 → Eclipse
Nov 1, 2025 → Breaking Dawn–Part 1
Nov 2, 2025 → Breaking Dawn–Part 2
The movies will play in the most popular theatre chains in the U.S. (I.E., AMC, Regal, Cinemark). If you are curious as to the closest theatre with a showing, you can visit the Fanthom Entertainment website, and they have movie listings according to zip code. You can also pre-order your tickets there. The great thing about each movie being a separate ticket on a separate day is that you can just go see your favorite one, or you can do a five-night movie marathon and see them all!
Even better, for those who never had the chance to see them on the big screen when they were released many years ago, this is a chance to get the full experience. I know, these days, movie theatres aren’t as popular as they once were, especially with streaming allowing one to watch the same movies at home in our pajamas. But there is a reason why it is still a thing at all. It is because it isn’t just about the movie, it’s about the experience. One you get to share with others, while also getting movie theatre level popcorn, and nowadays, sitting in a recliner(some are even heated). That is exactly why this is a perfect event for all Twilight lovers. It is a celebration of the treasured franchise, and it is one you are able to join others in experiencing it with surround sound and crisper imagery. Who doesn’t want to see Jacob turn into a wolf again…but better?
Are there any other Twilight-related celebrations occurring?
Besides the re-release of the movies, there are a few other 20th anniversary specials that are upcoming. For those who love a pretty book cover, on September 30, there will be three collectible book editions released–one of them creates a portrait of Edward and Bella when the pages are fanned. Also, the Twilight Saga YouTube Channel is back from a hiatus, and there are new clips and content for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
Looks like trick or treating might have to be paused this year for Twilight fans, considering Eclipse will be playing on Halloween…because, I mean, c’mon…that’s the best one. We might even get to see a few Edward and Bella couple costumes this year–or maybe Jacob and Bella for the rebels that still argue they were meant to be. Either way, Halloween this year just got better.
