As we reflect on the impact of video games in our lives, two series stand out for their enduring influence and joy they’ve brought to millions: Pokemon and Mega Man.

Pokemon: More Than Just a Game
Pokemon has been teaching us valuable lessons since 1996:
- The joy of discovery and exploration in vast, colorful worlds
- The satisfaction of collecting, training, and achieving goals
- The power of perseverance and growth through challenges
While each generation of Pokemon has brought new creatures to love and new adventures my personal favorite is Pokemon Gold Version for GameBoy Color. It just hit at the right time and gave me everything I needed in a Pokemon game. If you want to know more about Pokémon as a whole click here.
Mega Man: The Blue Bomber’s Legacy
Mega Man has been challenging and inspiring players since 1987:
- Teaching us that determination and skill can overcome any obstacle
- Showing how acquiring new abilities helps us face different challenges
- Demonstrating that even robots can have heart and personality
- Proving that classic gameplay mechanics can remain eternally fun
The series has maintained its core identity while evolving, showing that some things truly stand the test of time. It’s managed to spawn many spin-off series’ while continuing to make Classic Mega Man games in the original NES style, which is almost impossible for any other series to do now.
Why I’m Thankful
These franchises have given us:
- Countless hours of entertainment and challenge
- Communities to share our passion with
- Inspiration for creativity and problem-solving
- Characters and stories that resonate across generations
Both series continue to influence modern gaming and bring joy to new players, showing that their magic remains as strong as ever.
