As we enter the thick of Spooky Season, with Halloween just around the corner, it is very important to be prepared. With this time of year comes more trick than treat, but make no mistake: these particular dangers are far worse than any trick. Oh, but I’m not talking about any dangers on Earth, I’m talking about the ones lurking in a galaxy far, far away. If you ever find yourself drifting towards that sector of space, these are the beings you should absolutely avoid at any costs!

Honorable Mentions: 0-0-0 and BT-1

Imagine C-3PO and R2-D2, but completely covered in black, with glowing red eyes, and insatiable appetites for torture and murder. That, in a nutshell, perfectly describes the duo of 0-0-0 (better known as Triple Zero) and his companion, BT-1. Don’t let the seemingly harmless protocol droid’s appearance fool you, as 000 is fully equipped with weapons and torture devices, eagerly willing to electrocute or slice open his victims and even crack a joke about it. BT-1 is no better, though, as this guy is built like a mini-tank. The astromech can just roll in with flamethrowers, missile launchers, and a number of other weapons that can easily resolve aggressive negotiations. Moral of the story: never underestimate a droid, especially not these two.

5. The Zombies of Project Blackwing

Originally known simply as The Sickness, this plague was originally created by an ancient Sith Lord a millennia ago. This was mainly accomplished with Sith alchemy and an extremely Force-sensitive and self-aware flower known as a Murakami orchid. Wanting to use this as a bioweapon for the Galactic Empire, Darth Vader ordered for its recreation, which the Biological Weapons Division handled aboard the Star Destroyer “Vector.” However, despite all the precautions taken, the crew would soon find out how much of a mistake they’ve made.

Once the virus leaked and spread, those who contracted it through the air suffered a series of small symptoms such as coughing or sinus drainage, but as time went on, the symptoms grew worse: their flesh decayed and transformed until the infected ultimately died. However, the virus would quickly reanimate the corpse and continue spreading. Those who were bitten by these feral zombies would experience the same symptoms, except much faster than whoever contracted it via air. Whichever the case, the zombies were extremely aggressive and violent, only driven by the virus’ desire to kill and multiply.

4. The Son of Mortis

Mortis is a pretty confusing place to say the least, but it’s extremely strong with the Force. Both of these can definitely be said about its sole inhabitants: The Ones. These powerful beings consisted of the Daughter (embodying the light side), the Son (embodying the dark side), and the Father (embodying balance between the two). However, as Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ashoka would soon find out, this guy is definitely not someone you wanna mess with.

Just his general appearance, his echoey voice, and being able to transform into a giant flying bat-like creature with a mouth full of fangs is already scary enough. However, being able to read your mind is where the Son can truly take advantage of his shapeshifting abilities. While Anakin found himself a guest of the Father, he suffered through a vision of seeing his mother (the Son in disguise) ridiculing his relationship with Padmé, claiming he could become more with his pain.

But Anakin’s trauma doesn’t end there, as the Son broke the laws of the universe and showed Anakin his future. Anakin cried out in agony as he experienced everything he’d ever do as Darth Vader, driving him to the point where he turned to the dark side and joined the Son. If it weren’t for the Father wiping that part of Anakin’s memory away, we could’ve had a different and possibly twice as horrifying Vader.

3. Darth Nihilus

Before Nihilus became the Lord of Hunger, he used to be a regular Joe on the planet Malachor V. However, when Darth Revan used a super weapon known as the Mass Shadow Generator during a conflict above the planet, the weapon completely decimated the planet’s surface and everything on it. However, Nihilus survived, but the traumatizing events and huge loss of life created an insatiable hunger inside him. He found that when he drained the life force out of any living thing in his grasp, the pain and hunger would diminish and he would feel bliss, but then the cravings would return stronger after every time he fed.

This would drive him down the path of the Sith, now known as Darth Nihilus. He would go from planet to planet draining the life out of any living thing he could find, with satisfying his hunger becoming his sole drive. His powers in the Force drastically increased, as he now possessed the ability to completely sever one’s connection to the Force. His ability to drain life also got so powerful that even so much as speaking a word was lethal, and his ship contained a crew of people who were barely alive but not fully dead either.

If you ever encounter this Sith Lord, you might as well be staring into the eyes of Death itself.

2. Starweirds

Yep, get all your laughs out now. I bet I know what you’re all thinking: “there’s no way something with a dumb, simple name like that could be so terrifying.” But trust me, they’re unfortunately all too real, and you won’t be laughing if they ever find you.

Very little is known about these phantoms, and it’s either because they’re only found in deep space, or because barely anyone survives to tell the tale. These long, scrawny creatures only have one reason to board any ship, and that’s to hunt anything Force-sensitive but they usually ignore everything else. However, if you’re unfortunate (or stupid) enough to provoke their attention, they’ll literally paralyze you with a telepathic scream that’s so intense that you’ll collapse to the ground, overcome with a fear unlike anything you’ve ever felt.

That’s not even the worst part, as they possess long, extremely sharp claws that will rip you to shreds in minutes. This will be advantageous to the Starweirds since you’ll already be incapacitated by their screams, but even if you manage to fight it off and attack, it won’t matter. They can survive most wounds, even those from a lightsaber, and will peel you like a grape.

So, unless you’re not in deep space nor Force-sensitive, you’re cooked.

1. Abeloth

Abeloth, the Ultimate Evil of Star Wars

Queen of Stars, Mother of Mortis, Bringer of Chaos, whatever you wanted to call her, they barely scratch the surface of this monster. In Legends, she was actually a servant of The Ones, until the Father soon married her and the children greatly loved and respected her. However, out of desperation from fear of her own mortality and losing her family, she drank from the Font of Power and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge (the sources of the Son and Daughter, respectively). But because her mortal body couldn’t handle the combined power, it transformed her into a horrifying monster and drove her insane, leading to her family imprisoning and abandoning her.

Any Jedi or Force-sensitive who got too close to her confinement would be led to believe everyone they knew were impostors, eventually driven to insanity and become vessels to impose her will. But she can effect non-Force-sensitives just as easily, as she can not only drive them to insanity as well, but also cause bodies to implode and turn inside-out, consume life energy, and even tank a Force power that would knock a ship out of orbit. Even if she does nothing at all, it’s enough of a disaster, as just being there on Coruscant caused random lava to gush out from the planet. Even if you could harm her, she has extremely powerful and fast Force healing, ultimately leaving your efforts pointless.

All of this, and it still doesn’t cover the extent of her powers, much less do her justice. Just know that she might be one of the most powerful beings in all of Star Wars, if not the most powerful.

Conclusion

As you bundle up and sip on your pumpkin spice lattes, make sure to thank the Force that none of these beings are anywhere near us. Because you know that if they were, they’d exert nightmares unparalleled to anything the human mind can conjure on All Hallows’ Eve.
