It is October, and what could be better than jumping into Fortnite Battle Royale while the atmosphere is spooky? Before the end of Chapter 5 Season 4, which is around the corner, Epic Games has brought back one of its fan-favorite modes.
The company has now released a new update for Season 4, taking players back to the popular game mode, called Fortnitemares. In addition to returing OG Fortnitemares skins, such as Shadow Midas, this time Fortnite is focusing on introducing even more new content, including several new skins, quests, and items.
New Skins

While some skins have recently left the item shop, like Billy the Puppet, which will surely return in the future, and others are set to join soon, including Leatherface and She-Venom, with a quick glance at the item shop, your eyes will catch a variety of scary skins to buy via your V-Bucks. The most recent skins added are Edward Scissorhands, Mephisto, Lexa Hexbringer, Pumpkin King, and Sally,
New Items
Alongside the skins, Fortnite gifts some interesting new weapons and items, allowing you to fully enjoy the update:
Chainsaw

If you are familiar with the Leatherface movie, you will remember his intimidating Chainsaw and the terror of being chased by it. So, how about you put yourself on his shoes? If you collect the weapon, available in chests around the map, you just need to press the sprint button to run and enjoy carrying the Chainsaw just like Leatherface. Pressing the fire button deals a significant 75 damage to players, making it extremely hard to dodge, especially in Zero Build.
Furthermore, hold the aim button to smash the Chainsaw into the ground and move rapidly across the map non-stop. But, if you stop moving, there is a 10-second cool down to regenerate fuel.
Wood Stake Shotgun

The new shotgun added is called Wood Stake Shotgun, available at the southern POI, Brawler’s Patch. Head there and try to find the boss, Ultima Carver. Defeat it, and get rewarded with the weapon. At legendary rarity, it deals 101 damage with a fire rate of 1.3, a magazine size of 4 bullets, and a reload time of 3.85 seconds.
Pumpkin Launcher

The popular Pumpkin Launcher is back again. Apart from the Wood Stake Shotgun, Ultima Carver also drops this weapon if you eliminate it. Dealing a damage of 130 to players is still decent for a rocket launcher, specifically in Zero Build as having no Port-A-Bunker provides a perfect open area for sending an entire squad back to the lobby.
Witch Broom
The Witch Broom is also accessible in the battle royale. The Halloween-exclusive item lets you fly through the sky, replacing your own glider with a cool broom. You can also cancel the glider at any time and descend quickly to the ground without taking any fall damage.
Boom Billy
The Boom Billy toy is a fun item to loot. When you are sneaking up on an enemy, throw it when you get close enough. The Billy Boom will lock onto the enemy and slowly follow them until it explodes, dealing 75 damage. A clever tactic to use this weapon is when you launch with a Shockwave and see yourself right above your opponent. That’s the perfect time to throw the tiny tricycle, as it will instantly reach them.

New Horde Rush

The Horde Rush is currently playable in the game modes of Fortnitemares. You and your teammates must survive through several waves of cube monsters. Gather all necessary resources, reload your weapons, and be sure to stock up on healing items, as if your squad gets eliminated, you will need to survive until the wave ends. For the next round, they will respawn. At the end of the battle, you will face a gigantic, tough monster to take down. Destroy it and earn your scores. This mode is useful if you plan on increasing you XP and levelling up.
Billy’s Challenges

There are two types of surprises in the update. If you find a TV, for example in The Underworld or Grim Gate, labelled with a challenge called, Jigsaw’s Challenge, Interact with it to see Billy on TV. If you read the details, you will notice that if you fail in the mission, you will be eliminated. Once you start the challenge, you have to wait for another player to accept the challenge. Once the duel is set, a bomb will be attached to your head, counting down from 5 minutes, meaning you and your opponent will have only that time to find each other, with a marked location on the map, and finish the challenge. If neither of you succeeds, both will be sent back to the lobby.
However, there is another TV in Freaky Fields, located in the centre of the map. If you approach it, you will find out an option called, Investigate. You should feel suspicious here, as this is different compared to the previous TV, and it actually is because upon investigating, instead of a challenge, Billy himself will frighteningly spawn and start chasing you to knock you down. Fortunately, taking him down won’t be a big deal since he only uses his Spiralized Slicer pickaxe, giving you the chance to kill him using your weapons.
