I am guilty of supporting many Kickstarters. I greatly appreciate people who go after their dreams even when the odds feel against them. In my time, I have backed video games, D&D modules, and even movies. Having a community come together in hopes of helping a team create the project of their dreams is beautiful. Therefore, when I saw an advertisement for a card game pop up in a YouTube ad, I knew I had to learn more. I mean, watch the ad. You cannot tell me that this does not look amazing. So, without further ado, let’s talk about Fool’s Blade.

What is Fool’s Blade?
Fool’s Blade is a fast-paced multiplayer fantasy card game. The player’s main objective is to become the champion of the game. They must craft a glorious sword, do a few quests, sabotage their friends, and collect loot to do that. That is right, I said sabotage their friends. This game is all about messing with your friends and collecting that sweet, sweet loot. With over 15 classes to choose from and various sword parts to piecemeal together, the replayability is endless. Plus, the box is shaped like a sword! It’s the sweetest packaging I have seen in ages.

Thoughts on Fool’s Blade
When I backed Fool’s Blade, I knew I would love it. However, I did not realize how much of a chokehold it would have on me. It is a two to four-player game. While I have yet to play with more than two players, I feel it only improves with more people. The ability to sabotage your friends is fun, and the gameplay is easy enough to pick up. We did have a few rule-related issues at the beginning. However, the website cleared those up quickly. Overall, it is a wonderful way to spend an evening.
Additionally, everything is well made. Christian, AKA CircleToonsHD, the creator of the game, did an excellent job ensuring the quality of every part. The cards feel good in your hand. The dice feel balanced. Plus, the artwork is sick as hell. I love every part of this game. Did I mention the box is a full-blown sword? There is nothing to critique about this title. I love looking at it whenever I see it on my game shelf. Ultimately, I am thrilled with this purchase and encourage other board gamers to look into it.
Odds & Ends
If you want to play Fool’s Blade, you can pre-order it on their website. On a side note, this is one of the coolest websites I have seen in a long time. It is colorful and interactive. Viewers can even visit the forge and make a sword to view the effects. Additionally, the site gives a low down on how to play. There is also a section that clarifies some rules. Overall, the attention to detail is spectacular. If you are looking for more board game suggestions, jackkoun also wrote an excellent article on the subject. Ultimately, I cannot wait to see what the future holds for CircleToonsHD.
