I believe that video games should bring people together. I wrote countless presentations about this in college and have preached it here many times. Split-screen games are a dying breed, but I jump for joy when a title has it. Therefore, when Nine Dots Studio announced they had some big news, I was hopeful that they were creating a multiplayer game. However, I was unprepared for what I saw on their reveal video on YouTube. Not only are they creating an online co-op title, but they are also making a roguelike game and Outward 2. So, without further ado, let’s see what Nine Dots Studio has in store.

Nine Dots Studio’s Presents: Outward 2
Outward 2 is a challenging RPG with survival elements that takes place 50 years after the original game. Players will traverse harsh biomes and take on even more formidable enemies throughout the regions of Aurai. While there is not much information about the storyline, we have learned about some quality-of-life updates from Outward. Some of these include more quick slots, a pack mule to hold your loot, and dual-wielding. Finally, you can also look forward to full voice acting, a more extended calendar, and dynamic seasons. Plus, we get to vist Haboob!
Features Unique to Outward 2
- Constant auto-saving.
- No, save scumming in this game!
- Dynamic defeat scenarios.
- Simple crafting system.
- Improved combat system.
- Explore four regions.
- Multi-step magic.
- New loot.
- And more!
Nine Dots Studio and Ever Curious Entertainment Presents: Witherbloom
Witherbloom is a survival-ARPG dungeon-crawling title set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world. The gods are missing, and it is up to you to rebuild this world. Unfortunately, this is no easy feat. Players will enter the realms of Ingenuity, Harmony, and Passion left forgotten in the gods’ absence. Additionally, you will gather loot and survivors while they search for answers and address their essential needs, such as hunger and exhaustion. It is a fight for survival in this title.
Features Unique to Witherbloom
- Create a central hub.
- Make relationships with the other survivors.
- Improve equipment and craft essentials.
- Enjoy 16 dual-class combinations.
- Take on this world alone or with up to three friends.
- This is an online co-op title.
- Uncover secrets that may be better off unknown.
- And more!
Nine Dots Studio Presents: Lost in Prayer
Lost in Prayer is a grid-based, turn-based roguelike game that puts you in a moral dilemma. First, players are lost souls stuck in Purgatory. One can either take the holy path and go up against Hell’s disciples or raid Heaven and take a darker route. Whatever your choice, you will eventually make it out of Purgatory. Will your morals be intact? Who knows, but either way, it will be a frustratingly good time.
Features Unique to Lost in Prayer
- Unlock anything that kills you as a playable character.
- Procedurally generated levels.
- Permadeath.
- Unique skill trees to engage any play style.
- Use the environment and your abilities to manipulate your enemies to complete your mission.
Thoughts on Nine Dots Studio’s Announcement
Overall, I am pleased to learn about all three titles blooming from Nine Dots Studio. First, Outward has been one of my favorite games for several years. It is infuriating; the combat is clunky and genuinely one of the most challenging games I have ever played. However, I greatly praised it in an article many years ago. I can only imagine the second installment will capture those same feelings. While I do not think I will play the other two games, I look forward to seeing the developments and future news. Ultimately, I cannot wait to hear more about these titles and share the information with you.
