I am currently creating my Ren Faire costume, an homage to my D&D character, Daffodil. She is a merchant of fine home goods, which has led me to play games with a similar plot. I found a few shopkeeper sims in 2023 that helped me develop this fantasy. However, there is an upcoming game that I am genuinely excited to share with you today. Without further ado, let’s talk about Cozy Keep.

Cozy Keep’s Plot
Picture this: you are in medieval times, and your father has acquired a massive debt. How will you get your father out of this mess? As a clever individual, you have gathered many skills in your time. Between hunting, cooking, crafting, farming, and interior design, there are many avenues for making cash at your disposal. However, what if you could combine all these skills into one trade? That is right, my dear reader, should become a shopkeep. In Cozy Keep, you will eventually do all this and more to own the best shop in the realm. Plus, you get to make friends with cats. Who could ask for more?

Thoughts on Cozy Keep
I was intrigued when I first saw Cozy Keep pop up on Steam. The graphics gave me the Bloodline vibes, another title I am excited to see finished. Then I read that I could farm and hang out with cats all day. Therefore, I had to give the demo a try. Saying I enjoyed my first few days in this title would be an understatement.
I am not usually a fan of games that throw me into the deep end without much to go on. However, because this is a demo, I got over that quickly. I entered my shop, picked up the tools, and immediately got to work. The mechanicals were easy to follow, and soon enough, the shop was clean and ready for our first day of sales.
First, I needed to unload my trash on my new goblin friend. Afterward, I found some sheep that I felt terrible hunting. It seems the beginner axe is not an efficient weapon, and I felt like a monster whacking them multiple times. However, the customers enjoyed the spoils. Soon enough, customers arrived, purchasing my tarnished meat and other goods. Overall, I would say it was a successful first day.
Overall, I was immersed in this title and am excited to see where 2024 takes it. I am thrilled to learn more about these farming mechanics and work on building up my shop. In the end, this is a demo I will be playing more of, and I look forward to more updates.
Odds & Ends
Cozy Keep has a demo available on Steam at the time of writing. However, there is no official release date. If you want to try a similar title, Tavern Talk has the shopkeeping elements, whereas The Bloodline has more of the crafting RPG aspects. Overall, I am thrilled to share these games with you today.
