I have been on the market for a new Dungeons and Dragons actual play stream. While I adore the shenanigans of Dimension 20 and enjoy the drama of Critical Role, I wanted something new. So, when I saw an advertisement for Jasmine Bhullar’s upcoming show, I knew I had to dive in. Upon hearing about the fun players and unique setting, I knew I had to share it with others. Without further ado, let us discuss DesiQuest.

DesiQuest Players

I have loved all these actors individually from their various projects and am excited to see them all at one table. Jasmine Bhullar is among the first people I saw play D&D with Relics and Rarities. Sandeep Parikh made being a nerd cool in The Guild. Anjali Bhimani makes playing D&D look like an art form. Her characters are always badass, and that comes from within her as a person. Omar Najam made me cry as his character, Prince Andhera, blossomed. Finally, Rekha Shankar kills every Dropout show I have seen her on. Ultimately, when I saw this cast, I knew we viewers were in for a treat. Below, I have shared a table with their characters in DesiQuest, class, and previous works.

DesiQuest’s World

According to the Desiquest website, Desi is a word used to describe people, cultures, and products of the Indian subcontinent and those who share the culture but live away from the homeland. Therefore, the homebrew world of Vehaar is full of Desi culture and is influenced by Eastern history. Viewers will learn more about mythology, history, and warfare when watching this refreshing take on actual play TTRPG.

Thoughts on DesiQuest

I, admittedly, do not know much about South Asian culture. Going into the game, I knew I would have a great time watching the players. However, I was unprepared for the chemistry. Everyone seems to have a great time coming together to tell a fantastic story. There is something to be said about watching a group playing a game. Sure, it may seem weird to some, but to see the connections made over time is beautiful. I have laughed with these characters and fully expect to cry as time passes. Ultimately, I look forward to seeing where DesiQuest takes its players.
