In the spirit of Halloween, an all-new TV series of Goosebumps aired on Friday, the 13th of October of 2023, with five episodes available to watch on Hulu and Disney+ for their “Huluween” and “Hallowstream” celebrations. The show is based on R.L. Stine’s book series and produced by Sony Pictures along with Scholastic Entertainment and Original Film studios, who all worked on the previous films Goosebumps (2015) and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018).
The show opens up with the dark and mysterious past of a young boy who untimely meets a tragic end. The way they depict the creepy atmosphere and brutal death of our main antagonist is incredible. As a horror fan and having grown up reading the book series and the original TV series from the ’90s, I was immediately hooked! It was worth binge-watching. It took me back to being a kid kicking my feet up and yelling at the screen, “It was him!” and “Don’t go down there!”
The show is packed with a great cast, such as the Horror King himself, Justin Long, Rachel Harris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Zack Morris, just to name a few. They have done a great job of bringing back the classic horror show that many kids grew up with from the 90s with a fresh and modern reboot. New episodes will be airing every Friday up until November 17th to conclude its first season.
