Dropout has been a staple in my household for a while now. Our weeknight dinners are filled with Make Some Noise, Play It By Ear, and other delightful programming. There is something beautiful about watching people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company come together and have a good time. If there were a live stream of the cast and crew just eating Chomsky’s chips, it would be on my TV screen in a flash. Everyone has their own improv style, and they are all equally magnetic and captivating to watch. Therefore, I am honored to wish Dropout a happy birthday and share their good news.

What is Dropout?

In 2018, CH Media, also known as CollegeHumor, launched Dropout, the subscription streaming service that took the nerd world by storm. What was first described as the “TV-MA version of CollegeHumor” quickly shaped into its own identity separate from CollegeHumor. The infamous crime comedy Kingpin Katie and comedy Ultramechatron Team Go! were popular scripted series that ran in the early days of the service. However, there was a shift in content with the popularity of more improvised shows such as Game Changer and Dimension 20. In 2020, the company changed hands to Sam Reich of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and decided to forgo scripted shows.

Dropout’s Upcoming Programming

When the team announced Dropout‘s fifth birthday, there came along some surprises. These included the fact that Dropout will be dropping the CollegeHumor name and some new upcoming content. I have shared the titles of these series below.

  • Dimension 20: Dungeons & Dragon Queens Season 2
  • Breaking News
  • Make Some Noise
  • Dimension 20: Never Stop Blowing Up
  • Play It By Ear
  • Thousandaires

Thoughts

As I gaze at the long list of future Dropout, I am overwhelmed by a sense of joy. The content on this streaming service is slowly but surely growing, and it is beautiful to see these fine individuals creating shows they are passionate about. Every episode of Play It By Ear gives me chills, Make Some Noise keeps me laughing, and Um, Actually keeps me humble. Plus, a new season of Fantasy High? I have been HOOT GROWLING ever since I heard the news. Overall, I am more excited than ever and cannot wait to see what the coming years bring this company.
