Have you ever played Diablo 2? It was originally released on June 29th, 2000. I didn’t find it until some time in 2004. I wasn’t a big gamer then so I knew nothing of Diablo 1 or 2, but was introduced to the Diablo series with the second one. I immediately loved it. It was a game that was enough of a challenge, but not so hard I died all the time. It was a lot of fun to play with my husband and his cousin. Well, I trailed behind picking up loot, but it was fun to see them get worked up. My husband and I preordered Diablo 2 Resurrected. We were accepted into the beta run that is going on August 13th through the 15th. The open beta starts on August 20th, 2021. The full game launches on September 23rd, 2021.
Obviously graphics then weren’t as good as we have now so the look of the games was horrible compared to now. When I saw what they did with the look of the game with Resurrected, I was so happy. This game is awesome whether it is with the old graphics or the new. In Legacy, the native resolution was 800×600. With Resurrected, it can be played on 1440+ up to 4K. Toxicpagan can’t attest to it because he doesn’t have a 4K monitor but that is the claim of Blizzard.
I was so excited to find out the mechanics and gameplay are still the same. I don’t have to figure out how to play it now because that would have been a headache. Though I had forgotten how to walk continuously. In talking to Twitch streamer Toxicpagan I was told that a couple of quality of life changes is the shared stash and gold they brought in with Diablo 3. The UI also looks different. Though I played the original and the original and Resurrected, I didn’t notice the difference. However, since Toxicpagan memorizes games, I swear, he noticed the change. You can also key bind spells and then use your mouse wheel toggle between them. They have to be key bound in order to switch between them.
According to Toxicpagan, with Diablo 2 Resurrected, you get the original game and the expansion in the same purchase. You have to beat the first part of the game to be able to access the expansion. You can play the Amazon, Sorceress, Paladin, and the Barbarian. To play the Necromancer and the Assassin you have to complete the original game. The toons are gender locked. The Amazon, sorceress, and assassin are female. Male toons are the paladin, barbarian, and necromancer.
I very much enjoyed playing Diablo 2 with the updates. Just the graphics improvement makes it worth it. However, I just missed playing the game. I will probably be playing it here in a little while.
