Awards season is back for the new year, and sadly, I was disappointed with the looks I saw go down the red carpet. The trend of ruffles and puffed sleeves are continuing from last season, and frankly, I’m not liking it. Silhouettes being chosen, aren’t flattering for most and I was just bummed. Out of all the celebs that attended, I only liked three people, so without further ado, here are the people that I felt deserved some recognition.

Busy Philipps is wearing a Monique Lhuillier gown and I loved this color on her! You see a lot of red gowns go down the red carpet, but never in this cranberry shade. It really compliments her skin tone and it hugs her body perfectly. I like that everything else matches and that her hair cascades down. The beach waves, combed to the side, was a really interesting choice. And even though she was only there to support her friend, Michelle Williams, I thought that she brought it

Reese Witherspoon is wearing a Roland Mouret gown and I love how classic, and modern it looks. The ruching and the one shoulder strap takes the simplicity of the gown to the next level, and if you look closely, I like that her earrings mimic the shape of the ruched top. Lastly, since the look is so modern, the slicked-back hair, was a good choice to continue with that concept.

Ana de Armas is wearing a Ralph & Russo gown and I thought she really glittered on the red carpet. Weirdly, when I saw her on the red carpet, the fabric of her dress reminded me of Rachel Brosnahan’s dress from the Emmy’s, back in September, which I also loved. Both wore a glittery blue dress, but Ana’s is more demure. I like the necklace, with the matching blue stones, but I wish her hair had been done a bit more. Her low ponytail seems a little last minute.
