Happy November Blu-ray heads! Today’s pick is one of my favorites of the year and Spike Lee’s second best movie — Blackkklansman.

From visionary filmmaker Spike Lee comes the incredible true story of an American hero. It’s the early 1970s, and Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. The young detective soon recruits a more seasoned colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), into the undercover investigation of a lifetime. Together, they team up to take down the extremist hate group as the organization aims to sanitize its violent rhetoric to appeal to the mainstream. This is easily one of the best movies of the year — it’s funny, it’s got something to say, it’s expertly directed and has great acting across the board. Blackkklansman will resonated more with some but what this movie has to say applied in the 70’s and applies now and that’s Spike Lee’s wants you to know. Besides all that this is just a highly enjoyable film. Adam Driver steals the show in my opinion — he really is a talented actor and can do so much more than the whiny Kylo Ren.
