Avengers: Infinity Wars is less than a month away, and it is the underlying story that has been at the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the past 10 years. Avengers: Infinity Wars will pull together every superhero across the Marvel galaxy in what is on track to be the biggest film in movie history. And that’s no exaggeration. But if your new to the MCU, just recently embraced your nerdy side, or have been living under a rock, you may not know where to begin. This will give you a good starting point, and help you do a quick catch up, before April 27th.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

This introduces us to the Tesseract. AKA the Space Stone.

This is the first solo film of Captain American and ushers in Chris Evans as the Star Spangled Soldier. In addition to great action and a great story, The First Avenger we saw the cube explained as an otherworldly power which can either be used for great good or great evil.

The Avengers (2012)

This introduces us to Loki’s scepter AKA the Mind Stone.

When Nick Fury finally managed to convince Tony Stark to play nice and join up with his group of extraordinary superheroes, we not only encountered the looming shadow of Thanos but also a second Infinity Stone – we just didn’t know it yet.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

This was a pretty forgettable film, with exception of most of the story taking place on Asgard, and we got introduced to Aether, AKA the Reality Stone. Other than that I tend to forget this movie even exists.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

This introduces us to the Power Stone.

Thanos and the infinity stones were all in your face in this film, and they were not trying to hide it like they did in the others.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

This introduces us to the Mind Stone.

The second Avengers team up kind of goes off topic when they bring up a villain from the past in Ultron. For this film the infinity stones, and Thanos was put on the back burner, only to come back around at the end to officially begin the Infinity War.

Doctor Strange (2016)

This introduces us to the Time Stone

Doctor Strange employs the use of the Time Stone by using The Eye of Agamotto (his amulet)

Benedict Cumberbatch’s entry into the MCU not only introduces a more mystical aspect to the franchise, but it also sees Stephen Strange take his place as the Sorcerer Supreme.

So there you go.  You are now ready to go see Avengers Infinity Wars.  Now be prepared, it will be a two-parter so not everything will be concluded at the end, and we will have to wait and a year or so to see the final conclusion.  Just a heads up.
