In case you haven’t read Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, please read the summary here. And then when you’re finished, go and buy the book on Amazon because it’s probably one of the greatest science fiction books ever written. On top of that, you should also check out Steve Dunk’s fantastic interview with the author, himself!

Okay, now that that’s all said and done, we can take a look at the new Annihilation movie trailer that just came out.

Adapted by the famed Alex Garland, writer, and director of the Oscar-winning Ex Machina, his version of Annihilation appears to bring a fantastically complex world of promise and excitement. Just going on what VanderMeer has stated about the film, we can safely say that Garland has created another Oscar-worthy masterpiece. Back in May of this year, VanderMeer posted this on his Facebook page after seeing the film:

I’m not really sure what I’m allowed to say about it or not say about it, so I’ll keep it simple…I’m still composing my thoughts and feelings about it. I can tell you it’s mind-blowing, surreal, extremely beautiful, extremely horrific, and it was so tense that our bodies felt sore and beat-up afterwards.

Logically speaking, if an author enjoys a film adaption of his own book, wouldn’t you say that we can deduce that the film is going to be aaaaaaamaaaaazing?

Now are you excited?!
