5…4…3…2…1…. NEW MOVIES! Every year on New Year’s Day I get out my calendar and mark down the biggest releases of the new year, and 2018 has some big ones! Here is my list of the most anticipated films of 2018 (in order by release date):

It’s the beginning of the end! The mother of all superhero movies! If you don’t know what this is you’ve been living under a rock.

This film will take us back to the early days of everyone’s favorite intergalactic bad boy, Han Solo. It will document his initial involvement in smuggling & other crimes, as well as his work with the Rebel Alliance.

More hilariously raunchy antics and epic fight scenes — we can never get enough of Ryan Reynolds in that famous red suit!

Ocean’s 8 (June 8)

An all-female remake/spinoff of epic Ocean’s trilogy, this film will follow an all-star cast in the con of the century.

14 years after the first Incredibles film came out, Disney/Pixar is finally releasing their long-awaited sequel!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)

Source: Universal Pictures

Unlike previous Jurassic Park sequels, this film isn’t actually a sequel to Jurassic Park. It’s a sequel to the Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World. It’s a Jurassic World sequel, and though I had my doubts at its release, the trailer actually looks pretty cool.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (November 16)

Source: Warner Bros.

The second in an estimated five film franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald introduces the main villain, Grindelwald, who tore the wizarding world apart in the First Wizarding War. We have all the details here.

Mary Poppins Returns (December 25)

Lin Manuel-Miranda and Emily Blunt star in this exciting sequel to the classic Disney film, Mary Poppins.
