LMOE had it’s midseason finale. Spring can’t come soon enough.

Gail has devised a plan to get out of the elevator, but first she must catch the roomba. Not an easy feat given her situation. The little robot rolls away before she can get a grasp on it, but she’s determined to get it when it comes back around.

Todd asks Melissa where she’s been the past couple of days. She says she’s been right here, but she hadn’t been. She’s very out of it and everyone is concerned. Lewis thinks they should lock her up to keep an eye on her, but Todd thinks it’s important to not treat her like she’s crazy.

Carol, still thinking Gail is gone by choice, decides to shred her adoption papers, saying it was just a bunch of phony pepperoni. Tandy stops her and suggest that they go on the honeymoon they never went on when they initially got married. Carol reluctantly agrees.

Gail uses Gordon’s wig as a means to trap the roomba, and it works! The roomba latches on, and she pulls it toward her.

Todd takes Melissa to her bed. When he leaves, Melissa is confused, forgetting that she broke up with him. He sleeps in a chair outside of her room. When Todd wakes up, Melissa is gone again.

He asks Erica and Lewis (who are in the plane simulation as Lewis continues trying to learn how to fly so that he can fly to Tokyo one day) if they’ve seen her, but they haven’t. Todd says that she’s not missing.

For their honeymoon, Tandy recreated the site of where they first met, and reminded Carol of some of the mega romantic things that happened in this origin story (He was sniffing her bra and she pulled a gun on him. Classic meet cute).

Tandy takes Gail fishing. There aren’t any fish anymore, so he puts things on the ends of the lines himself. He gets out of the water and reels in a women’s coat.

Gail gets a tug on her line. She asks Tandy what he put on it, but he swears he didn’t put anything on hers. She reels it in and there’s a fish!

but shortly after it rolls away, the note falls off and roomba sweeps it up. She’s been trying so hard to find a way out of this elevator and every attempt hasn’t gotten her any closer to being saved.

Gail starts shooting off her gun in frustration, and one of the bullets ricochets against the ceiling and goes into her leg.

Todd takes Melissa into a room where he can observe her. She yells at him to leave, and when he does, he locks the door behind him. Melissa starts knocking on the door and yanking on the handle once she realizes she’s trapped.

The fish Tandy and Carol found (which Carol had named Gail) flopped out of the bucket of water and died. Tandy put her back in the bucket after attempting CPR and reverse-CPR (where he kept spitting water in the fish’s mouth). Carol gave a eulogy, and the the fish started moving around.

After being so hopeful for so long, and so determined to find a way out, Gail accepts that she’s going to die in this elevator.

There’s a montage of everybody in the group. Melissa banging on the door. Todd crying on the other side of the mirror. Lewis and Erica in the plane simulator. Gail lying in the elevator. Tandy and Carol driving home. Tandy and Carol brought the fish home, since it renewed a sense of hope in them.

Gail no longer has any sense of hope, and loads the last lone bullet into her gun. The camera pans out to the exterior of the building and we see a flash of light as we hear the gun go off.

The last three episodes have been kind of hard for me to watch. I don’t do well with hopeless situations. (Does anybody?) We’ve seen Gail try so hard to get out of this. Plan after plan. She pried the doors open just to be stuck against a wall. She’s stuck because Lewis cut the power. How could he know that someone would be stuck in another building? The group was so close to finding her in the previous episode, but the focus was on Melissa and Melissa showed up, so Gail is still stuck. Pretty much everything that can go wrong will go wrong. I’m kind of anxious waiting for the spring premiere. I hope she didn’t kill herself, but I also hate when shows do a dramatic cliffhanger and then back out of it. It feels like an abuse of power. I guess we’ll see what happens eventually.
